I found a Schutzhund club near my town today!!! A Schutzhund club in a town with NO dog stuff EVER! And to top it all off, little to my knowledge I knew the club president! He's a regular customer of mine and me and him have talked American Bulldogs seeing how he has one with a SCH3 on him and ksnfjsdnfdsnj I'm excited!

I was also offered a Cane Corso puppy today from a breeding up coming a year or two! All because I know the breeder and she's in the club as well and she's also a regular customer of mine at my work!

How often does something like this happen?!!

Here's the club:

Cool! What dog were you going to train with?
Future puppy :rofl1:

Takoda has no drive and Beau....well maybe I could do tracking with him and some bite work? He has prey drive and awesome tug drive!

Or my Dachsund...he has drive for days!

But most likely just going to check it out and get the feel of the sport and meeting some American Bulldogs and Cane Corsos :)!

Yay. Maybe Beau and Takoda will get some time spent with them training and out of their pens, off their chains!!!!

As for the Cane Corse, I hope she reads your recent post about being a good dog owner but not spending any time with your dogs etc.

I never had a problem with you, but that post.....that post was heart wrenching to read when you're someone who devotes their lives to their dog.

Schutzhund REQUIRES TRAINING. That might not be in your realm since you can't do basic obedience with your pets.

Are you going to be keeping the puppy outside, unsupervised, without proper exercise and vaccines, as well?

Because... no offense, to each their own, but CCs are not the same types of dogs and Beagles and you WILL suffer consequences if you treat a CC puppy that way... :dunno:

And unfortunately, if a bored, chained (with little human interaction) Corso gets loose to wander and knock up the neighborhood dogs...unlike an average loose Beagle, someone might not be graced with the option to shoot the poor dog or not.

I should figured I get crapped on for that post. I was venting and have admitted to my mistakes.

I have gotten better after spending time with my dogs and I'm trying my best to get them out of their pens, and walking them. But kinda hard to do with the weather recently either. My yard is a mud pit and it hasn't stopped raining for like 2 weeks now. But I do make it a point to walk them.

And I think you guys misunderstood the training part with them. Beau is TRAINED to be basic tricks and obedience but he's NOT a performance or sport dog. He used to be a hunting dog but retired at the age of 5 due to a move.

They live outside for a reason and cannot be in the house. Trust me if I had it my way, they would be in the house. That's something I've gone over and over again.

Takoda has some basic training but not much as Beau has into him.

Their basic needs are met. And I'm not adding a new dog anytime soon, this is a year or two in the making and I'm wanting to start it off right.

Just because my dog doesn't eat top of the line kibble doesn't make me a bad dog owner.
Just because my dog lives outside doesn't make me a bad dog owner.
Just because I can't walk or play with him everyday doesn't make me a bad dog owner.
Just because he's not a trained dog doesn't make me a bad dog owner.
Just because I use lost cost clinics and free rabies clinics doesn't make me a bad dog owner.

He's MY dog, he's MY best friend, he's MY furry son. I may not have a lot of money or spend as much time with him as I would like to due to my screwy work schedule, does not mean I don't love my dog. I do what can for him and try to do right by him. Sure he's eating a dog food that costs 18.99 for a 40lb of food right, it's all I can afford. Sure he doesn't get his shots on time and he goes a bit in between baths. But he is the **** dog EVER. And he has been my best friend for almost 11 years now and though he may deserve better then me, but me and that dog have been through hell and back twice and we've always had each other's backs. I love my dog

I may not be the best dog owner out there, but I love my dog I'll kill for him, but I AM NOT BY NO MEANS A BAD DOG OWNER!
All of this has changed in 2.5 weeks?

He's UTD on his shots, their actually not due till April.

I have worked on walking him everyday or atleast every other day. I have worked on getting them out of them pens even if it's just a romp on their chains.

I haven't changed their diet due to financial issues. Plus they like the food and do well on it.

They still live outside, but that's not going to change anytime soon as much as I want it to.

I'm not going to bathe him in the middle of a rainy winter, outside with a hose.

He DOES know tricks and basic obedience and is better trained then most dogs I come across on a daily basis. He knows sit, down, wait, bang!, roll over, say your prayers, shake, high 5, give me 10, beg, up, watch me, touch, stay, hup up, speak and a few more.

I was venting and have changed things around.

I bust my ass off working 7 days a week to support my dogs, but it does come at a price as well too. I have work weird hours and try to balance it out the best I can.

What are you going to do if an emergency arises with a new dog, when you can't handle an emergency with these 2?

Also, Not walking or playing with/training a Corso might not end up as ok as your current dogs.

FWIW- I forwarded some of your posts here to the club president as well as the regional DVG president and TD for that area. Since they are a DVG club and I am a DVG member, I felt they should be well informed before wasting time with you or costing a dog it's life possibly.

BTW- I work 8-12 hour days depending on the day. My dogs are ALL taken care of, walked, exercised and trained. No matter what. They come first. I budget accordingly so I can feed a better food.

You should probably wait until you're more stable, have your own living arrangements, and can support yourself and your dogs before getting another. Keeping a CC on a chain or in a pen and training it in SCH is just not an option, and will not work. Plain and simple.

Increase the quality of life that your current dogs have, then think about adding another.

I've already stated this wouldn't be happening for another 2 years!

I'm using that time to check the club out with MY CURRENT dogs and research the CC's a bit more.

I'm not stupid and not jumping into this blind.

Seriously? You forwarded my information to them? Really?

Do you love causing drama or something?

Honestly, I don't think this is quite fair. Maybe there is more to the story but all I've ever seen her post here has showed a deep love for her dogs.

I don't think best quality food, living indoors or being a sport dog is what makes a dog well cared for or not. And not playing or walking them everyday? It's winter. My dogs don't get walked everyday.

I think she's been pretty upfront and honest about the condition she keeps her dogs in and really, I'm ok with that. I like the honesty especially when she knows it's not well thought of and maybe it's just me but I've always sensed a great bond between her and her boy. May not be ideal, but she knows that it seems like and is doing what she can to improve and deal. The situation is what it is, I would rather a dog live outside and be cherished than rehomed.

Anyways, congrats on the find of a club! Always exciting when that happens!

ETA: I really think that was unnecessary, out of line and just cruel Red Chrome.

Chaining a beagle in your yard is one thing. A large, powerful bully breed will not fair well being chained in a yard, with no interaction for days, and no training. Not to mention not being able to afford vaccines or food for her current dogs, what is she going to do with a puppy for food and vaccines? And the cost of club dues?

This is how dogs grow up to break their chains and kill kids on the street.

eta; also, she lives in the south. If I can exercise my dogs almost every day in a blizzard, she can do it in the mud.

If you bust your ass seven days a week to support your dogs but can't afford to move somewhere that you are allowed to have them inside as you would like and can't afford to feed them anything better than a $19 bag of dog food, you might want to reconsider planning to add a dog, particularly a breed like a cane corso who requires heavy socialization, are typically protective and can certainly be aggressive without a lack of proper training (read: should not be left alone outside), and for whom eye problems and gastric torsion are common. They also need regular exercise and if you can't be bothered because you're too busy or it's raining/cold/muddy you should reconsider.

It might be a few years in the future but it sounds like you have a lot of things to get squared away before you should even think about adding another dog. By your own admission your dogs will not be anything but outside dogs "anytime soon."

This just sounds like a disaster in the making. You should strongly reconsider planning on a CC even if it is "a few years" out.

I thought it sure sounded like she wasn't planning this anytime soon and knew the situation right now wasn't ideal for her dogs let alone another dog. Didn't sound to me like a "Let me go get another dog right now."

Thank you!

I don't see what I did wrong by being honest?

Does this look like my dog hates me and is horribly abused and neglected?
