:( Now, keep in mind that before becoming a dog owner I was afraid of dogs....

I was out walking Jake yesterday, and was almost at the leash free zone in the park where I could let him run, when I hear this guy yelling at me. I looked up, and he told me "Get your dog over to the fence!"--I didn't know what his argument with me was, so I did what he said and got Jake to sit. Then this guy comes barrelling towards me (and he was a big guy) being PULLED by this huge Shepard who is snarling and barking--really aggressive. The dog was lunging at me and Jake (who is now hiding behind me, terrified)! He had this dog on one of those choke collars with the big prongs on it, chain leash, and this dog didn't care one bit! He managed to get the dog out of the park and away from us, but holy! I was sooooo scared after that encounter, and just imagine if Jake had been off his leash and run up to this dog :(

I was amazed at the strength in this dog, and that this big guy had NO control over his pet at all :(

OMG!!! How scary! Some people! Why don't they get some help if they can't control their dogs???? They have no business being out in public. I hope your little guy recovered from his fear. That could really hurt his socializing progress. Be sure and get him around other friendly pups to remind him that all dogs are not bad. I'm so glad you and Jake are OK.

Everyone thinks that it is OK for their dogs to go to dog parks, regardless of their temperments.

It's those darn German Shepherds. Everyone knows they are vicious and will tear your throat out when you aren't looking.

THAT IS SO NOT TRUE:mad: It is the dog owners fault that he could NOT control his dog. Obvisiously, He couldnt control his dog so he shouldnt have been there...

Oh :D It kinda upset me because I have had a German Shepherd and all the ones that I know personally are the sweetest things in the world. I am sorry I just hate when people generalize. :D

Imagine if the shepherd had been the one off-leash. That would have been really scary. It's astonishing how many full-grown men 'lose' control of their dog when it suits them. Curiously, I've never seen any of them being dragged in front of a bus, or taking on a lunging Great Dane.

I was in Petsmart the other day getting some toys for chloe and this man was being dragged around by his Dobe... The dobe "seemed" to be quite obedient from what i could see, but it was dragging that man everywhere.

Some people think their dogs look "tough" if they drag them around. I have seen this macho type behavior so many times. It's like "Look at my strong dog" "oohh I can barely hold him he is sooo strong"

Yeah I know... But the man was kinda on the small side if the dobe would have stood on two legs it would've been taller than the man. It was actually quite funny :D
