Huggies or Pampers?

Which do you prefer? I like pampers swaddlers. They are sooo much softer than huggies!!

As far as baby wipes go, I like pampers because the texture is smoother than the huggies ones. I get the non-scented ones.

So, what do/did you use? Pampers or huggies?

well.... I like huggies now and huggies wipes....

I find the huggies wipes are more helpful for her big poops now lol.... they seem to "grab" more.

and I found that the pampers diapers seemed to feel damp through her clothes in the morning now that she is sleeping through the night... so the huggies diapers have been working better... plus they fit a little bigger so the size ones still fit.

Desitin cream has prevented any skin irrations for her

That is true about huggies grabbing more. Pampers wipes are really slippery. I have Madison in number 1 pamper swaddlers.

I also use destin cream. Icky stuff, but it really does help rashes.

Yeah we did that with daipers too.... since we got a few different brands from our baby shower and what not... but we have decided on Huggies lol they fit Hannah the best and we have the least amount of "blow outs" hahaha

pampers are notorious for leaks. We use them at the hospital because they have some kind of contract with them or something. Huggies are good, but the problem I had with them is the elastic on the legs is tight and it left grooves on the legs on the babies with the fatter legs. I personally had the best luck with luvs. Never had a problem with leaks or leaving ridges on her legs. Try a few different ones and see which brand fits your baby the best and which ones you have the best luck with. Pampers might work great for some and not so great for others..etc.

The huggies wipes are thicker and thats why they tend to do the job of cleaning up a bit better than the pampers wipes. Becareful with the scented ones because they often cause skin irritation to the babies bottoms.

Desitin is a good preventative ointment for diaper rash but if you end up with a rash.. aquafor or just plain liquid maalox will work the best for that. And if the rash is bumpy looking make sure you let your pediatrician take a peek because it may be a yeast rash and will most likely require nystatin cream.

They key to avoiding most diaper rashes is frequent diaper changes. People often think they can save money if they let the baby really fill the diaper or soak it to get their moneys worth out of a diaper, but if a rash develops you have to spend the money to treat the rash and you wind up saving nothing and the baby has the discomfort of a rash.

I was a pediatric nurse for years so if any of you have any questions you want to ask about that kind of stuff... feel free and I will do my best to answer any questions you might have.

All this talk about baby stuff is getting me really excited about my grandchild that's on the way. I can't believe I'm gonna be a grandmother and I'm only 36 years old!!

I obviously have no children of my own, but I did have to pop in with one observation. While I know this will probably vary from baby to baby, with my little cousin, Pampers or Huggies (forget which) worked great for her, but Luvs gave her some horrible rashes. Switched diapers and the problem cleared right up. So if your baby seems to get a lot of random rashes, try switching diapers and see what happens.

With William he is in Pamper's Baby Dry... The hospital had him in Pamper's Swaddlers, but when he outgrew those we went with Huggies Supreme... then for some reason, I switched to Pampers and loved them.
I also use the Pampers wipes and I love them.

Haha.. my problem now is finding big boy undies small enough to fit him. He is even a bit to small for the SMALLEST pull-ups :( Poor guy, has been the same weight since JULY... the have done all sorts of testing on him to find out why, but everything comes back normal. I guess he is just going to be a little guy... just under 21 pounds.

My mom SWORE by huggies. I always remember going to the store to buy diapers for my brother, and she'd point out pampers and say how horrible they were. Not a clue why.

I used Huggies as soon as they were out of newborn size. Huggies DID hold the leaks better than pampers..........and once they start going more than a little at a time it can get pretty messy, LOL

And Huggies were normally priced better than pampers as well, I could also find Huggie coupons more readily :)

In the infant/toddler classroom I was at, Huggies were by far the preferred brand. It got really confusing because 95% of our kids had the same diapers, lol.

For my boys, if I can remember correctly...I think I preferred huggies until they got to a certain age (maybe 6-7 months) and then I went strictly pampers until they got to pull up age.

I *think* that's how it went. I cannot remember exactly.

I think I might end up going the cloth route for at home and disposable for on the road, assuming I ever have kids.

I always liked the Sam's brand Smiles? maybe?

They have this diaper now that is a cross between disposable and cloth. It has an outside part that you wash and the inside part that soaks up the stuff is flushable. You put it in the toilet and let it sit for a while and then you flush it. I think they're called G-Diapers.

Grammy my mom STILL complains to this day 'cause I couldn't wear disposable, hehehehe, I had a sensitive bottom and could only use cloth diapers.

I had a supply of cloth diapers I kept as well for my boys...........they really help in the event of a diaper rash, breathes better to let the rash clear up :)
