Personally if I ever have kids I probably will use cloth diapers at home.. they look comfortable and much more eco-friendly :) though kind of a pain to clean. Blechhh...

lol blue.

We use cloth, all the way! This is the brand we use, and really they are not hard to clean at all. Especially if you are breastfeeding, because the kind of poo babies make while eating breastmilk is 100% water soluble.

We never had any problems with rashes or anything, until we moved and used disposables with her on the road. They are a little more bulky than disposables, so it seems like she moves up in clothing size a little more quickly than if we used disposables all the time, but it's a small price to pay.

Yeah we did that with daipers too.... since we got a few different brands from our baby shower and what not... but we have decided on Huggies lol they fit Hannah the best and we have the least amount of "blow outs" hahaha

I just recently went back to pampers diapers because I had 2 blow outs with huggies. One when she was in her swing and once when she was in her car seat... soaked both with urine and runny poo. Its weird because huggies do feel a lot more "safe" than the pampers do, but I have yet had a blow out with them. I'm just waiting for it to happen, and its probably just a matter of time. And then I am gonna be back to huggies, lol.

pampers are notorious for leaks. We use them at the hospital because they have some kind of contract with them or something. Huggies are good, but the problem I had with them is the elastic on the legs is tight and it left grooves on the legs on the babies with the fatter legs. I personally had the best luck with luvs. Never had a problem with leaks or leaving ridges on her legs. Try a few different ones and see which brand fits your baby the best and which ones you have the best luck with. Pampers might work great for some and not so great for others..etc.

The huggies wipes are thicker and thats why they tend to do the job of cleaning up a bit better than the pampers wipes. Becareful with the scented ones because they often cause skin irritation to the babies bottoms.

Desitin is a good preventative ointment for diaper rash but if you end up with a rash.. aquafor or just plain liquid maalox will work the best for that. And if the rash is bumpy looking make sure you let your pediatrician take a peek because it may be a yeast rash and will most likely require nystatin cream.

They key to avoiding most diaper rashes is frequent diaper changes. People often think they can save money if they let the baby really fill the diaper or soak it to get their moneys worth out of a diaper, but if a rash develops you have to spend the money to treat the rash and you wind up saving nothing and the baby has the discomfort of a rash.

I was a pediatric nurse for years so if any of you have any questions you want to ask about that kind of stuff... feel free and I will do my best to answer any questions you might have.

All this talk about baby stuff is getting me really excited about my grandchild that's on the way. I can't believe I'm gonna be a grandmother and I'm only 36 years old!!
It seems like all hospitals use pampers. I always wondered why. My hospital used them too. I thought it was kinda weird, lol.

Madison got a nasty rash a few weeks ago. I had no idea what a normal rash even looked like. I have never taken care of a newborn before. It turns out that it was a yeast rash. Had some nasty looking little bumps. Nystatin cleared it up within a few days.

I think pampers swaddlers might keep the wetness away from a babies skin better than huggies, because it has that weird looking special liner. madisons skin has been completely rash and red free with them since I changed diaper brands. I could be completely wrong, I dunno.

I HATE HATE HATE luvs! I work at a daycare and the runs is going around right now. Every kid in Luvs gives me a nice mess to clean daily. Down the legs, all over the pants, and, on more than one occasion, into the shoes:yikes: YUCK!

It's been years since I used the luvs... maybe they've gone down hill since then. I just know that the pampers leaked and her legs were too fat for the huggies. Diapers have come a long way from years ago... heck, now some of them even have the yellow line down the front that turns green or blue when the diaper is wet...lol.
