Im starting to think about it more as time goes on Ashe will be 14 in June, he retired last year from agilty and has aged since then. His face is much greyer his eyes more clouded and he is slower getting up and down the stairs. However he still "runs" with the pack, plays with his toys with gusto, and can crunch his raw food with the best of them if just a little slower.

He was my 1st agility dog and my sons heart dog, it will be a tru tragedy when he crosses. A better family dog in the shape of a BC I could never ask for.

Zoe is 16 months. I worry about her long term. She has aggression issues so I'm more focused/worried about that now. Long term I don't know how she's going to be and if we will possibly have to rehome her in the future. Other than that, I think mostly about her joints. Right now she's young and full of energy, but what about 5 years from now. I think she is a mutt of some sort. Lab mix, or a badly bred lab.

Athena is 10 and Sal will be turning 6th on the 8th of April.

Since as an adult I have never got a dog to live past their 11th birthday (I had all Rotties before) it makes me nervous for sure. The main reason I switched away from Rotties and to Amstaffs is for longevity. I had a real tough time when I lost my last two Male Rotties (Both to Cancer) and I am even closer to Athena and Sal.

You just have to remember to enjoy the time you have left and not fear what every living creature must fac.

I just had the vet give Athena an good exam (blood tests and all) and he said she is the picture of health, so I hope to have her until 15 if I can get some luck <fingers crossed> Sal comes from lines with a history of longevity. Several of his ancestors made it to 14 and 15.....so I hope he does too.

Ginger beagle mix-15
tawny husky-8
gizmo corgi -8
byron doberman-7
Mortimer west highland white terror our foster4 or 5

I need to look at their actual papers to check the ages but it pretty close.

Sadly I worry about my dobe the most who is the youngest of my bunch. I know the bigger they are the earlier they go and I cna't imagine loosing him with the bond I have with him:( I love my old girl ginger to death to but its almost the feeling I get with old relatives-she has had a long good life.

We have never had a dog die before fifteen so I guess thats probally part of the reason I worry about byron-you often here they go downhill at ten.

My ginger didn't even start to show her age till she was thirteen or so. My mom tells me if I would carry her around in a purse she would probally live till twenty-I wouldn't doubt it:yikes:

I also try to do health testing once a year, sometimes every six months when I start to freak out LOL..

I have a very strong bond with my pit, not as much with my Chihuahua, as he's daddy's little man..lol..but I love my dogs...and my pittie is my first very OWN dog that is extremely close to me..I could have never asked for a better friend..she's truely an amazing girl...

I hate to think about it :p

But I have spoken to some people that claim their pits have lived to the ripe age of 16, so I am also praying to God and keeping my fingers crossed...:)

Loki, my APBT, is 3.
Jedi, my Dogo I co-own with my mom, is 8. He's getting up there.

I worry, but not overly so. I just do my best to make sure they're enjoying their time with me. I will be a mess when Loki passes, but I will have given her an awesome life. I get more bothered when I think I may not be able to own my breed in the future.

Traveler-lab. 11 years old
Baxter-beagle mix--will be 2 years on April 19.
I do worry about my dogs--Traveler we raised from a puppy --and she is the most loyal dog around--we adore her, and I can't imagine how my kids (and hubby!) will react since we got her for the kids as a family pet, those many years ago. She is beginning to really show her age--especially moving slower than she used to --but her attitude is still all puppy--especially when it comes to playing fetch!
Baxter should have plenty of good years ahead of him. :)

Jager is a 10 month old black lab/ hound/ (german?) shepherd mix

I don't worry too much about his age yet. When it's his time, he'll go. Hopefully in a couple years i'll get a puppy, and will be able to always have at least one dog in my life. Maybe i'm not as worried as i should be because our family dog lived to be 16.
