Breeder, up to $2000. Rocket was close to that - and that was after the discount. If she'd sold him to anyone else, he'd have been $3000.

It depends on the breed and the rescue. Allie was $25, Ruby $75. Noodle was $300 from an ad in the paper.

I don't think I'd ever pay over $2000 though.....I think.

Depends on what I'm looking for, where I'm getting them. But my max from a breeder would be about$1,000.00, a rescue about $200.

Depends on the breed. For a mastiff, my limit would be 3000.

For most breeds 1500-2000.

Shelter dogs 400 limit.

Dogs aren't really a place I'll price shop.. if a breeder is good I'll pay for the right dog.

I'd pay over $1,000. Pet papillons tend to go from $1000- $1600. Show dogs go up from there. I expect to pay that much in this breed and it's well worth it imo. The other breeds I'm looking at I'd probably go the rescue route (except a couple rarer breeds). I wouldn't go over $500 for a rescue most likely.
What is strange is that Paps in South Africa are by far the most expensive of all breeds! They must just be worth it. ;)

For an adoption/rescue, no more than $200. I can get a puppy for free, and it's happened several times (and I've found them homes). I've also paid $100 and $185 for dogs.

For a dog from a breeder, I'd consider close to 2000 depending on the breed. My boyfriend wants an EB and he knows he has to pay a lot for a healthy one. The breeds I like aren't that expensive. I got my first dog from a breeder for $950 and 14 hours of driving! Costs aren't just money!!

For me, it would depend on the breed... as to how much I would pay..

As far as my Collies go, I haven't purchased a dog from a breeder in years.... I have the 4 month old smooth puppy from another breeder right now, but I did not really buy her... I got her through other terms. Every other dog I currently own I have bred....

The last Collie I bought was my smooth boy, Zack, who I bought almost 6 yrs ago...who was only $750 and he was 14 months old and major pointed already, but the breeders (who are great friends now!).. had many smooth males in that litter and wanted to get them into great homes. Zack finished fairly easily and is now behind every dog I currently own.... so not bad at all!.. but the typical cost these days for a show/breeding Collie is about $800-$1200.

From a rescue... $400-500 because it'd like be from a small breed rescue.

From a breeder... Depends on the breed really. For a properly bred Pug I'd go up to $1500 for a pet, wouldn't go for show with Pugs. Any C-Section prone breed I'd be expecting in the $1000-$2000 range for a well bred quality pup.

Saying that of course right now my budget is more in the $600 range, and if a little black female pug pup or adult (depends on how i feel about the adult's training and temperament) fell in my lap for $600 or less I'd snatch them right up.

For a well bred dog that is a rare breed I would pay 2K but my wife would shoot me. If you divide the cost of buying and maintaining a dog (even at 2K price) I still think dogs are a great but considering what they give you in return IMHO.

My realistic limit without suffering a divorce would be between 1 and 1.5K.

Really depends on the breeder....

I have no problem paying over a grand for a dog. I sold Sheena's pups for a 1000. And the new pup I am getting is 2200 and that doesn't include shipping. To me it depends on the breed, what you want the dog for and so on.

depends.
if i need to dog to make my living and living is good i could see paying $30,000 for good dry ground cat dog or $2-4000 for good complete hog dog. depending on the breed & line i could see paying a few grand between price & shipping or plane ticket to get the right pup.
from a pound, shelter, rescue or out of the paper (craigslist), $75 max.

From a breeder, probably not more than $600. From a rescue, probably not more than $300.

From a rescue/shelter I wouldn't pay anymore than $250. (I have paid more in the past but I never would again.)

As far as purchasing from a breeder, I don't really know. I'm lucky in that currently I am owed a puppy from one of the best Alapaha breeders, and I have pick when I'm ready for a 4th dog.
I guess it would all depend on what breed I was looking at to purchase and what my plans were for the dog. For a pet/companion I really wouldn't be willing to pay too much for ANY breed. If it's a working dog it really would depend on the breed and the lines. And hopefully I could work something out in trade, instead of paying. LOL!

Harrison K-9 personal protection dogs for sale: the best family watch dog
DonDer is beautiful, perfectly trained, great with the family, just awesome.
the company was also incredibly helpful and hands on...
I want one soo bad!! lol
Save your money, these places will tell you anything to get you to buy a dog. Their "premiere" dog is basically a Schutzhund 3. It's a German showline dog. Well trained, beautiful, intimidating in the right situation, but not a protection dog. Not worth the probable 50 grand they'd want for it.

My dad, on the other hand, can train an actual protection dog. He can train schutzhund as well, but there is a difference. The $75,000 was a joke ;)

Seeing that we always had dogs that were rescues and I will continue to do so nothing more than a couple hundred and when I spend that I want the dog already spayed or neutered fully vetted and up to date on shots. If it is free than I will take care of that stuff.

Yup exactly. Or you can give me the $50k and I'll give you as many protection dogs as you want! LOL!
ETA: The dogs on the website have very nice OB, but for a PP dog I saw some stuff that bothered me. The main thing was the location of the bites/type of equipment. You will notice that they are using a sleeve and the dogs all are trained to bite right arm, center. Even when a dog is sent on a fleeing decoy, the dog is going around the decoy to bite right arm center. I want my dog biting the most convenient place possible. If a dog only bites one spot it is easier to esquieve and get away from. I also only saw one hidden sleeve bite. The rest were all done again, on the hard jute sleeve, right arm. Without using a suit, or making more use of hidden sleeves, there is a big lack in the training. Like I said, though, really nice obedience, it's fantastic that they focus on the temperament. But I think money would be best spent elsewhere. It's cheaper to buy a green dog and train it yourself . . . and more fun anyway :)

My dogs weren't expensive... now their food and collars and leads and crates are another story.

I wouldn't spend more than $1000. Ever. I can't put that kind of money into something. Then again, my breeds aren't particularly pricey so it all works out.
