A friend recently had her 56 lb borzoi done in the burbs of St. Louis for about $180. The price included antibiotics and pain meds, but I'm not sure about pre-op bloodwork. The zoi did not spend the night at the vet office because she breaks out of crates, so the vet and owner agreed she'd be safer in a quiet room at home.

The clinic I use is anywhere from $30-$90 for dogs of all sized to be spayed or neutered. I think they add $20 on if the animal is in heat. I love it, use it all the time. Although its cats I take there, not dogs.

small dog spay starts at about $250 including pain meds but no bloodwork, no iv. 50 pound dog is about $300. in heat or obese is a little bit more, because it takes longer and is a harder surgery to do.

It depends here. I'm told off the military base it can be expensive, $300+ for a medium to large dog (50-100 lbs)
On the base it's around $100 for a spay for a 50+ lb dog that includes bloodwork. Dogs that are adopted from the military base vets office it's $35 for a neuter and I think $65 for a spay (it is also mandatory but they get so busy that it has to be scheduled after adoption - but they will call your command and force you to bring the dog in if you miss the appointment - no playing around going on here! I asked this when I was getting mine microchipped the other day)
They also have the low-cost spay/neuter clinics frequently in the area, I think they range $20-30 for whatever size, it's a pretty good deal.

Almost the same as a spay around here.
Kita was $540 at 2 years old weighing in at just over 80lbs. No pre-op blood work, traditional spay ( not laser) the only extra on her whole procedure was due to her age ( mature spay)
This was an "out patient" spay as well, dropped her off in the early AM picked her up at 4 pm, no meds, no nothing.
This is standard price around here, actually the $540 was the cheapest I found. :(
And thats why no one around here seems to spay sadly. No hopes in finding a clinic either.
I know a few people who use someones address in Toronto to get it done at clinics (worth the 4 hour drive south) while I somewhat disagree with scamming the system like that, the people who did it were on a fixed income. Atleast they spayed.

Neuters here are $275 +

That's a horrible price indeed! I wouldn't blame someone for "scamming the system" with that kind of price for a spay...it's certainly better than letting their dog get pregnant!

Venus will probably cost around $450. 71.8 lb borzoi--pyometra--diagnosed this evening--emergency spay tomorrow morning--facility with state of the art everything--vet with lots of experience operating on borzoi--located between St. Louis and Grey Summit

We were just starting to do well in the ring...

At a clinic it'll cost about 80 bucks for a female, with pain medication, no bloodwork, limited post op care.

Neuter is about sixty.

At the vets office, anywhere from 280 to 400 depending on the dog, and bloodwork/postop/medication.

ultrasound by specialist: $350
back-and-forth service for dog by obsessive-compulsive vet who decided you really needed an ultrasound by this specialist: $0
finding out the infection is outside, not in the uterus and having a vet who goes the extra mile: priceless

no spay for Venus, just lots of antibiotics

If I get Stryder neutered... it'll be 115.50 - plus 8.40 for medications - and add 56 if I want the pre-op blood work. Not too bad.. but geez. The meds probably cost $2.oo to them.. why they just cant throw them in for free?

My vet is a great vet who has a clinic in a low income community. If you qualify like I do depending on the weight of your dog it can range from $45-$90. If you don't qualify its $150. But its not hack work. He has spayed and neutered all four of my cats and Tucker is going to be neutered August 28th. And when Sawyer is old enough he will go there as well to be neutered.

Other clinics its ranges from $150-$250. And there is also a Spay and Neuter clinic that offers the same prices as my vet.
