Nowt....

I gave her a picture in a frame though, all she wanted was a pic.

She is a friend though, so, she can see her anytime she wants anyway!

I paid $160 for Athena from a rescue and paid $500 for Sal (Saladin) from a breeder.

It is amazing how cheap even a very expensive dog is. For a fairly small amount of cash you get a life time (9-17ish years) of love. Considering the money we pay for cars (and who truly loves their car?) that don't last nearly as long a dog is a great deal.

Cocoa - from pet store (before my knowledge of mills, etc. $1000.00) supposedly purebred silky (everyone thinks NOT... and feels she's a yorkie)

Houdini & Myles - both approx. 8 years old - paid $250 each from rescue
both purebred yorkies

Chewey - didn't pay for up front - took in as puppy to foster after some idiot purchased from pet store and figured out how much work puppies are.. Needless to say, he's found his forever home with us. He's supposedly a "pekepoo"... We had to get all shots and he will be fixed in a couple weeks.

If hubby would allow me to save more I would rescue over purchasing from pet store any day. It has been a true blessing watching Houdini & Myles over the past 10 months come out of their shells and warm up to us... They are amazing boys.

Im not shure how much the sheltie was but he was from a breeder (have to ask my dad) the puppies were technically free beacause we traded them for a stray momma cat and two of her kittens because she was a good mouser and my cousin had mice so it was an even trade3 he had gotten them from a back yard breeder for free(guy refused to have his female spayed)then he found out his girlfriend was pregnant and couldnt take care of 6 dogs so he gave us the two puppies

Hope was $4500, plus we paid $350 for a couple we know that rescue gsd's to board her there [$350] for 3 weeks because she was in heat and we ahd an intact male on the property. We bought her for the sole intent to breed with her but we did not want her bred until we had time to xray her and temperment test, heart test, and also just see what she was like. Wanted to catch the next heat if all was good.

$140 from a shelter - they had her for four months, temperment tested her, did all the vet work and started her on heartworm and flea preventative, and did obedience training. It's a little high for a shelter, but I really like this place, they're more responsible than some other local shelters and their prices obviously go into their work. They get a good score on http://www.charitynavigator.org/ and I feel confident that when I get a dog from them, the dog won't have any drastic surprises like a case of heartworm, overlooked aggression, etc.

I'm a transplant, so I don't get lumped in!

I have to laugh everytime I see employee cars parked next to client cars. We're all driving old or cheap cars and then there's all the Lexus, Audi, BMW's...I've got an 11 year-old Saturn, so I tend to stick out in a parking lot.

My car always sticks out. I drive an element, lol. Yay for box cars!

I got my first dalmation for $250. Rexy was free, she was a road dropoff that my dad found wandering around the streets, and my latest Min Pin was $300.

As for the humane society issue.. purebred dogs from here, or even popular mixes (Usually Husky) are $350 +, But personally, I think kittens are worse, being about $130 for an adoption.

Mary was born in my home..her mother was the baby labrador that we thought would never live..she was dehydrated so badly that i had vet trips and nutrical..gasoline to drive her over to her mama's to nurse first before the rest of the litter 5 times a day AND formula supplement
mary's dad i paid 300 for from a man that boarded the parents at our kennel..so what ever that all counts up to..along with all the extra food for good nutriton for tAte to produce a healthy litter..and vaccines..lots of money there..Victor i have given Connie Guthrie 5 gift certificates to raffle off as fund raisers for Save__our_strays but have never heard from anyone..would gladly honor. Takes 2 weeks for portrait..i didn't have the adoption fee but hoped that she would consider my art as the same thing.
