Ripley cost $800 originally, I think we ended up paying more. I have spent thousands of dollars on him in a period of a year. The initial purchase price of the dog means very little compared to the money that will be spent on them later on.

Dakota was either $400 or $500, not bad at all for a show quality BC.

My BC bitch probably will be no more than a couple hundred, since I will be working for her breeder.

I'm starting to think I suck as a dog owner, because I don't think I've spent more than 500 dollars on Sawyer since I've had him...food, chews, toys, flea & tick treatment, agility class, treats...

LoL! Since when does money spent qualify you as a good or bad dog owner?

It does not! I have only spent $50 on toys for Yuck. We had the dishes, the collars, the leashes from Jessie! We buy him dog food and do his vet care but for accessories that is about it. Even the crate was used and free besides. Even our brand new crate was free, it was given to us by a guy who bought it thinking of getting a dog and then changed his mind. Still in the box brand spanking new, given to us.

Since, like, forever, duh! Money is, like, everything, didn't you know that?

The common refrain of most people in my county. Complete with "rich-bitch" accent!

I used to drop my dog off at the day care and I would park my Neon or rusty old 4x4 next to car's that cost 8 or 9 times as much driven by some people who I dont think had to work overtime to pay for the daycare like I was.

I'm a transplant, so I don't get lumped in!

I have to laugh everytime I see employee cars parked next to client cars. We're all driving old or cheap cars and then there's all the Lexus, Audi, BMW's...I've got an 11 year-old Saturn, so I tend to stick out in a parking lot.

New aussie puppy with non-standard coat: $175
Bowls, toys, more toys to replace he ones he ate: $200
Vet bills, wellness plan: $300
Obediance training:$75
dog food that isn't found in a normal grocery store that I have to drive out of my way to buy: $30
Knowing I found my heart dog: PRICELESS :)

Daisy was given to us by a friend, and comes with papers if we want to apply for them. So far the only thing we've paid for was a new nametag, collar and a few toys to call her own :) (like she hasn't already claimed Sunny's  )

Spud was 0$
Precious was 0$
Roxy Mae was 175$
Had Precious for a 3 years, Spud for 6 months, Roxy for 9 months. In the past 3 years, I would guesstimate around 7-8000$ spent. Nothing compared to those puppy eyes I get when they see their momma walk in the room.

I paid £300 ($542) for shadow but the breeder gave us £200 back because of her health problems, so we only paid £100 ($180) . We would have ended up paying £1700 ($3075) in health bills within the fisrt 3 months of owning her, excpet we have insurance. THANK GOD! I worked it out, I spent £300 in the first month on her for toys, food, bedding, etc. I couldnt believe it!

Originally we wanted to adopt from a shelter, it £60 (£113) and thats for everything, all vacinations, neutering, microchipping, the lot, but they seemed very strict when we went there, but its in the dogs best interest i suppose. They didnt have any suitable dogs when we went there. The local pound is £45 and thats just for the dog, they dont do any checks there, u just pick a dog and pay for it.

Sadie - $600.00. She was on 'sale' because nobody wanted her because of her red eye, that, BTW, the vet used the wrong procedure to fix!!! She was about 3 months when I got her.

Nora - $900.00 She was just over two months.

Both with papers and up to date shots. I paid for the spaying of both and their last shots (and of course their ongoing yearly shots each year).

And yes, I was a misinformed victem of pet store purchases. Arrrrg, I know, I know, bad! Aven! When I brought them for their well visit with my vet, she even rolled her eyes at that fact. She's very earthy crunchy. But, I know better now and understand why she did that. I only feel comfort that at least they ended up with me rather then some fruit of the loop person that knew nothing about dogs.

Toka for $100, already spayed, shots done, but they lost all the paperwork. Mixed breed spaniel/bc/aussie

Vet Visit, all shots again, and Heartworm Test $150 or so. I stopped counting the toys and chews after $300

I'm looking into aussie breeders for my next dog, but will probably do rescue, since I really want a 3-6 month old, and can't realistically afford a $800 dollar pet quality puppy from the few consciencious breeders I can find near me.
