All three of my dogs I got for nothing - Skyla was an old lady's puppy and she needed a home for her as she was going overseas after her husband died. Tanis I got from the rescue society for which our veterinary practice did the spays and neutering so I got him for nothing too (and he was sick when I got him so they were glad that I took him) and Kitiara was meant to be euthanased, but she was young and reasonably healthy so I kept her. Since then they have cost me quite a lot - especially since I started doing agility with Tanis.

OK I'm getting into this a bit late and I tried to read everything but....
Well Baby (she's a chi/mix) and Mira(chi- poss mix) were only $75 b/c we help out w/ a rescue. We don't screen like most. No home visits. We like to see the people w/ the animal and we talk to them. Each person works w/ one dog and if someone likes the dog we talk and they interact w/ the dog, if all goes well then they get to talk to another person reguarding adopt (cost, vet info, etc). We try to fit each dog w/ each family. We are a non proffit so the cost covers spay/ ntr and shots. Every dog is forstered in a home so we can see how they are w/ potty training, other pets, etc. It works out really well. Plus most dogs are taken from a kill shelter from doggie death row.

As for our newest addition a drk brindle boxer, we got him for $300 down south but up here he would be btwn $900-1500, a reverse brindle (we were supposed to get his brother but he passed away) can go for as much a $3000 up here.

I can't see spending that much for a dog but that's just me. See I just put all that money into vet care and extras... My girls get clothes and the new guy gets toys.

my dog cost nothing. Im serious $0.
We almost ran over him on the road, being the nice family that we are we took him in the car to stay at our house for the night. next morning we took him to the vet. he had a chip but the number on the chip must ov been wrong cause the man said"srry but my dog is right next 2 me" wheather he hated dogs and dident want it or he was telling the truth im not sure but now we have a cute, energetic and cheeky dog that we love 2 bits. it has been about a year and the vets havent rung back so WE CAN KEEP HIM YAH!!!

I have never paid money for a dog...and I never will. :) All my Newfoundland dogs were free, all vaccines included for the first 5 years, then the breeder spayed/casterated at her expense after she was finished with them. My Rottweiler was an SPCA confication, she was given to me and I was working at a Vet clinic so I got her spayed at no charge. Beau was a stray, the Vet clinic paid for his food and half the cost of castration. In my almost 40 years I have had a lot of dogs and never paid one penny to get them :)

i paid $70 for quigley at the shelter, including shots, microchip, deworming and neutering.

my dachshund - free, found her abandoned when she was 8 weeks old.

my great dane was about $1000 back in 1980, a show quality dog from a great breeder who probably never made any profit from selling puppies - he was totally dedicated to the breed.

I got my border collie as a pure-bred for $150. He was 'bred' up the road from us, sold to a home about an hour away then came back to the same street to live with us. Bi coincidence(sp?) And our GS pup was a wopping $770 aus. Wow, $3000 on a dog? What country?

I can't remember how much we got Harley for because that was 10 1/2 years ago.
I'm pretty sure we got Abby for about AU$400-500

Nova is a Staffy we got from the pound for $90AU desexed and imunised and she has the best personailty you could hope for in a dog. Zoro is a pure bred Staffy puppy we bought last week for $450AU.

No price is too high to get to spend time with such awesome dogs.

bowie cost me a 25 dollar adoption fee. total he has had about 10,000 bucks worth of medical care, much with specialists. i have had him 4.5 years, and in that time he has had 6 surgeries and an MRI. we wont even go into the costs of his food, toys, classes or what i spent to title him :)

mya was my hospice case and i did not pay anything for her. i had her 10 months, and she cost me a total of approx 3000 in that time.

willow is my foster and i havent paid anything for her. her current bill stands at 150 bucks as of today :)

I never payed anything for any of my dogs. The AZ humane society charges only $35 for most of their dogs!
