How much did you pay for your dog? I'm curious to see how much people are willing to pay for their pets, or how much good purebred dogs are. I got Zeus from the humane society for $70, and that included all his shots and neutering. A great deal!

$3000 for Yukon but half was refunded after he refused to supply promised registration papers. So $1500 and we got the papers!

MARY? WHat is 8 times puppy food/vacinations/time (hours and hours and hours) plus the cost of spaying her mother? i don't even know how much that would add up to
Victor a broken heart...they gave him to me..should have had to pay i think 90 or somewhere around that but i didnt have it..i wrote the woman that tho i didn't have the adoption fee..i did have two moms (me and mary dog) with broken hearts needing a baby to love before we fall apart.told her about Bronki's death..said i could guarantee a good home, good food, vet care, a babsitter, a stay at home mom..and i could give her two petportrait certificates to raffle off. i have never heard from anyone..i wrote her on Victor had been with me for 6 months, that i hadn't heard from any one and she said if i wanted to donate some more for their Valentines Fundraiser at Petsmart..i said surely..i did.. still haven't heard from any one. I e-mail her each pic i post of Vic..and shout to the world what a special woman Connie Guthrie is..she would have driven Vic to me..i said that is ok..i will come. It was a long long hours worth drive.
So that is what i paid for Victor

Gempress, I'm jealous lol. Here the local shelter is $90 though, which is pretty good too... Tips was $250 from a rescue, and that didn't include neutering. They travel with the dogs from Virginia to New York though so I guess they need to get their money somewhere...

Boris was $450, registered. They had some non registered Goldens that were $350 and not half as cute. Although I know better now. The good news I guess is that I have yet to read anything wrong about that place, and I google it regularly. They sell puppies from local breeders. I still have Boris' breeder address somewhere...

Our husky was 250 or 300,I can't remember,it was a while ago!
I think ur beagles adoption fee was thirty or so but that was also a long time ago.
My dobe was 500(I think :p this really makes me feel like my brain is going!)
And my mom traded my arabian to get our corgi and he cost us 2,500 so I guess thats what gizmo cost!

Our new pup (Irish Terrier) is registered with the Canadian Kennel Club, both parents have titles and have been shown extensively, and the pup was $950. A good deal, I think! :)

Back in 1949 We got the pick of the litter ...both parents CH. for $125.!! How times have changed !! My " line dog " Rufus cost about $250 in 1960 . When I ended my line I was selling for $500.....just enough to discourage poor owners and enough to tend to my pups properly.

i was wondering if you were going to post that Bubbat..i mean the prices just blow my brain. Back in dinasaur days you had one heck of a dog if you paid 500 or even 750..a three thousand could by you a sire to stake your reputation on.. no wonder with the standard prices being like they are today that puppymills are so successful. i know when i go into a pet store and see what a canary or a parrot is bringing..thats before u even look at the reptiles, the profit margin is HUGE. Unless of course your a good breeder that puts in twice what he ever gets out..as far as the birds go..if your paying that..and your bird is being imported you have sooooo been ripped off. People should always make sure their birds were handraised in the Us by as careful a breeder as we want our dogs to be.

Tank was free, but getting past his seperation issues along with him being alone for the first time in his life was very trying and expensive. Tanks first month with me he destroyed a $200 crate, $600 kennel, $200 in mini-blinds, $50 screen window, and about $200 worth of clothes. Plus about $500 in vet bills from injuries he got from destroying this stuff. All this was a crash course in learning about dog's and my dog specifically and that was worth it to me, I wouldnt trade it for anything. Everyone that hear's all the things we went through will always say "I bet you will go with a puppy instead of a rescue next time." My reply always suprises them, "Any dog that I have from now on will always be a rescue, in the end all the work makes it worth it."

My dogs were all free... but only because my brother is GRet. Breeder.. so that's where Bailey came from. (normally he sells for 500 with papers or 350 with out. Not sure where he gets his prices from) Brooke came from an idiot breeder and was essentially a rescue.. but actually given.. Sandy was the last of a litter given to my kids. All are registered.. all have their health cert. and guarantees.. I have been lucky...

HOWEVER... in our shelters.. a dog is 150.00 includes shots and neutering.. I think that is a great price for all you get... At local pet stores.. around 500-600 for any breed.. mut or otherwise..... and in the Toronto pet stores... A mut will run you 500 or 600 and a dog supposely from a reputable breeder will be over 2Grand with no papers or guarantees... It's craziness.

Sawyer- 175 from Aussie Rescue (incl. worming, neutering, shots)
Aubrey- 95 from local city shelter (incl. shots)

There's a pet store here that offers *financing* options for their puppies. And don't even get me started on why you would need financing in the first place for a pet store puppy. Which is downright ridiculous because half those dogs are mixed, the rest are too young to be sold and all of them are kept in induvidual cages. Then the employees wonder why the puppies keep dying on them...stupid corporate puppymills.

I paid $300 for Mack from a "breeder" and we paid $75 dollars for Shelby from the shelter. That just included her not any of her shots or her spay. Hannah was $350 with papers but we got her from a friend at my husband's work so he gave us a big discount on her. Maverick was free. We are paying $600 for the Standard Poodle we are getting, we already put down half as a deposit to hold the puppy for us, and she also comes with papers.

The Petland by us offers financing on their puppies! Before we got any of our dogs I fell in love with a Rat Terrier there and she costed $900  ! She was a very poor quality puppy too the more I went home and researched the breed and I am SO glad that I have very crappy credit and they couldn't approve me for financing.

Oh, I forgot: The $70 for Zeus also included his city tags and microchipping. Amazing deal, really.

The Animal Shelter (seperate from the Humane Society) here is even cheaper. It's $46 for a dog over 3 months, and $35 for a puppy under 3 months. And that includes the spaying and neutering. If the dog you're adopting was already neutered prior to it's arrival at the shelter, they lower the adoption fee even more. It's fantastic. I wish all shelters were like that. In the Austin shelter, I had to pay $80 for my previous puppy.
