With my two, I chose names I knew wouldn't be called every 5 seconds at the dog park.

Tamlyn was named after a member of my favorite band at the time (8 years ago) and Cissy (full name Narcissa) was named after Harry Potter's Narcissa Black since my fiance and I are both huge Harry Potter fans.

Hunter was a stray and got named at the humane society. I liked it and kept it. Plus, he already knew it. But now with all his nicknames, he knows Boothead, too :p

Colby was already named "Cheesehead" by the shelter staff because the Wisconsin Packers had just won a game and the shelter staff were Packers fans, and Packers fans are nicknamed "Cheeseheads" so that's what they called her. We added Colby, and LOL she looks like the colby cheese you can eat.

Mayberry got her name because we wanted a spring name.

Tippy got her name because we thought it was a cute name and because she has a white tip on her tail.

I knew I was getting a big, tough German shepherd- and I was watching the Rocky movies (you know the boxing ones?) and I thought it was a cool name.

It was almost Max. But it's way too popular.

I want to name my next dog, Fedor.

Peanut's previous family named her. When we adopted her from the shelter, we just kept her name.

Didi had a weird name we couldn't pronounce. So while watching Dexter's Lab On Cartoon Network & to match her daugther's name, Fifi (not with us, the previous owner that had Didi has her), we named her Didi. Pepe was named Peppy, but we changed it to Pepe to match Didi's name, all our past pets/current pets had matching name (Pookie & Nookie, Cece & Bebe, Nelly & Kelly, had a cat named Gigi to match Didi,Peaches & Cream,Cookie to match the cockatiels Pookie & Nookie, ect)

My husband seen Princess and said she looks like a little Princess, so he named her that.
I was trying to find the right name for Gracie. Had it narrowed down to 3 names when my daughter came over, walked in and said "GRACIE! How about Gracie?" and so she got her name.

Tank was already named when I got him. Suposedly the story behind his name is that on the first trip to the vet with his brothers and sisters the vet picked him up and said "WOW this ones built like a tank!" So they called him Tank. His registered name is Snomist Blessed by T'Breeze. Tank fits him better.

After living in a really shitty money situation for about a year and a half where we did nothing but work and put money towards our debts to be able to finally get ahead, things were starting to look better for us. We were all debt-free and able to buy a house and move out of our basement appartment :D Even before we moved to our house we had always wanted a dog but just didn't want to keep one in a basement appartment, and so as soon as we had bought the house we started talking about getting a dog. We moved in March and got our puppy in May. We still had to pinch quite a few Penny's to get her, and so we figured after all our moneytrouble, we'd name her Penny:) She's an every day reminder to us that there is a light at the end of the " money-trouble-tunnel" lol.

We named Boris that way because we had been looking for a newfie male pup, and we loved the name for a newfie. Well, it didn't work as the breeders never contacted us back, so we got Boris instead, and on the way home we tried to decide if it would fit him or not, and we thought it would, so Boris it was.

For Tips, he was named Paws from the rescue because the tip of his paws is grey, but we didn't like it much, and we chose Tips instead. Same idea really, plus the end of his tail is white too.
