Joey got his name because I am a HUGE friends fan and of course my favourite character is Joey
so as soon as I saw this cute little wrinkly puppy, i just knew he would be named Joey, he is just so dumb but absolutely hilarious, it fits him perfect

Mitzi is a rescue dog, so she has had her name all her life, otherwise she would of probably had a strange name too lol

how did you think of yours?

Hannah choose her own name. I was going through names and said Hannah and she perked up and wagged her tail I couldn't pick something else. Lily we choose because of our favorite scene from the movie What About Bob. Where it's Dr. Leo's birthday and his sister came in to surprise him and he just gets SO happy and screams out "LILY!". Me and my husband went to go look at a chi at the shelter who's name was Lily and we just loved the name so we had to go see her, unfortunetely she was walking out as we were going in.

Both from books. Aubrey came from the Patrick O'Brien books (Jack Aubrey; Master and Commander is the one everyone knows) and Sawyer's namesake is from Mark Twain's "Tom Sawyer".

My next dog is most likely going to get named something from Shakespeare's collection of works.

Roxys name came from a friend...we were all sitting around trying to decide her name and he said something about wanting to call her mom foxy (its sasha now) and someone said Roxy like the clothing brand (i have a sweater with her name on it :D) and she ran over and that was that. she knew her name was Roxy from day one. She also listens to boxer and silly face and im sure if i yell telephone loud enough she'll come running to that one as well :D

i guess the name is becoming more popular tho, when i joined dogster in january 2004 there were no other quigleys on the site and now there are 6. :p

Shiloh was named after The Battle of Shiloh. Hubby has an interest.

Charlie was named Charlie Brown, well because he's brown.
Our friend then got a lab too, hunts too, and named her Lucy to match Charlie. LOL

Rocket was named by my son (5 yrs at the time). He said she was fast like a Rocket. He told the trainer that was her new name.
Well my husband and I didn't think the trainer would take a five year old serious. My husband and I were going to name her something else, but the trainer used her "new name" the whole time he trained her. We decided not to change her name again, which would have made #3.
So Rocket it is. Everyone thinks she is a "he" because of her name.

Minka my foundation bitch
was named after me, her reg name is Sunshine Bonnie
she truly is my Sunshine
I got the name Minka from a German Shepherd Book, liked it because was different
my Tia got her name because she was the runt of litter, I started calling her weea
and when she got bigger I thought Oh I can't call a German Shepherd weea lol ...
so I changed to Tia - closest I could come up with. Her reg name is Lotta Heart and that she has!

I picked Chinook's name from a website with Siberian dog names. His name means moist wind from the pacific or something like that.
That is a good name for a dog , but I hate Chinooks. Warm moist winds in FEB, melts the snow everything tuerns to glare ice. One year I watched the 20' stepvan I worked out of being blown across the road during a Chinook.

Sorry for the rant, Chinook is a great name for a dog.

Roxie was a popular name in the late 90's and she seemed to like it. We added anne to her registerd name to make it a little different. Brutus is named afer the famous Brazilian war dog. Brutus, However hubby had to have Maximus added to it. Kinda blew the Brazilian thing. Maggie had many names but she would not respond to any of them. She did respond to Maggie so it stuck. It has been Maggie Moo from that day on.
