I started with Buster in ront of me in a down because its generally easier to hold. I would say "stay" and then wait a few seconds then reward, gradually adding distance.
Those basics happend about 5 years ago though.
Now we are geting the intervals longer and longer and he can do over a minute and a half (as opposed to his 10 second stay 5 weeks ago) in eaither a sit or a down.
