He's not broke, it says ready to be ridden, not has been ridden. He's not broke yet. So he won't be something you can bring home and start ridding right away you will need to work with him first. Also his bloodlines although not bad are nothing special either. To me from what I see he's a $1000 animal not $2000. Never know he maybe perfect for you though so then it will be worth it to you. Just as someone looking at valu for your dollar he is expensive.

contact the american paint horse association. they probably have breeder lists/referrals on their website. here it is http://www.aphaonline.com/ click on market place, then horses for sale. shows by region, so click the southeast. looks like only one in your area at the moment. so instead go to marketplace, then on right side is breeders and trainers directory, you can either order a free copy, or view it online and contact some breeders and trainers. they should be able to help you out a ton!

I'm sorry I don't want to discourage you but I want you to be very happy with your choice. Keep posting the links and I will try to not put them all down. I sound so negative and I am sorry, I just want your horse to be the best thing that ever happened to you. I want you to enjoy him and love him, not have to battle day to day.

I have read the posts and can vouche for the fact that yuckaduck was in no way trying to discourage you. I hadnt read all of them untill just now, I would have said the same things she said if I had read them all. Theres no arguing that picking a good horse is as difficult and time consuming, and takes as much research as buying the right puppy. In some ways it can even be harder.
personally I would recommend that if you go through newspapers, or anyone else for that matter, have your aunt and/or your father look at them closely, and if possible have a vet check them out before purchasing.
and you better keep us posted, and put some pictures on here when you get one.

Now that i look back at the post, I really don't think Yucka was being rude in anyway but trying to help me, and I think u o much for helping me Yucka..b/c I didn't even see that 1 horse was sold and the other 1 wasn't even able to ride yet.

But there has been a change of plans as far as what age of horse I'm getting. I'm getting a colt!! I was talking to my dad and he was tlling me about a colt he had when he was about 14-15 and it followed him everywhere and when it was older it was the best horse ever!! So now I'm looking at Paint and Quarter horse colts. I'll post links in a little bit, look back sometime in about 1 hour and I'll have about a million links down...LOL. Thanks for helping me Yucka and stirder!

It is my pleasure to help. Your dad is going to train it right? I think you said that before. If you have any questions I'll always be around to help. Good luck.

same here. before starting I recommend the John Lyons books. you may not agree with everything but everyone can learn something from them.

John Lyons is who I train by most of the time. I went to his courses and I did his clinics and I think I basically stalked him for a year trying to learn as much as I could. I don't like Monty Roberts at all, I think he is a fraud but that is only my personal opinion so it is up to you.

What makes you think Monty Roberts is a fraud?
I don't know gut feeling. I saw a few of his interviews and I was not impressed, I saw a few of his specials on tv and was not overly impressed by the saddle marks his so called wild horse had. It also had shoes on and he was suppose to be catching it from the wild and joining up with it on live tv. Funny how that wild horse got shoes and a saddle mark. That lead me to think he was untrustworty. If it was for sake of time on tv then he should have said here's an example; but he clearly stated several times that the horse was running wild and this was his or anyones first encounter with the horse. Also always made me wonder where the rest of the herd was as we never laid eyes on them and how often do horses that are wild travel alone?

Just because I feel this way does not mean his training won't work or anything. I just don't like it when people decieve others and then everyone says oh he talks to horses, actually he calls him self the horse whisper becasue he listens to horses. Hope they aren't telling any of my secrets. lol

Have you read his books? Those were wild mustangs that were being rounded up and auctioned off. He had to get on a waiting list for that experiment. I've never gotten that impression from him but you never know. Anything is possible, unfortunately.

I have read two of his books one actually called the man who listens to horses and the other was about how to raise your children the same way as you train a horse.

He clearly stated several times that they were going out to round up a wild horse not one already caught and going to break it from scratch. A horse that had never ever had human contact. Like I said funny how it got shoes and a saddle mark. Never know maybe I am way off base but like I said it is my personnal opinion and and based on what I have seen and heard of him, I would much rather follow John Lyons method. He takes the time to show it step for step and he clearly states that it is a horse who he has been working with at the clinics, no decieveing the truth. I just get my fur up abit at Monty lying like that. I figure if he has to lie about that then what else is he hiding. Maybe I am totally wrong, don't know but that is my feelings. I am not belittleing anyone elses opinions if you like that's fine.

Hmm, that's a little weird because I read Shy Boy which is all about the mustang and he had to get on a waiting list to get him when they were rounding up wild horses and adopting them (auctioning?) them out. Not that that really explains anything. I don't know. I really enjoyed his books. But I don't follow him or John Lyons or anyone really. Just had a lot of people who've influenced me. And courses. Actually, I took a TTEAM course and really liked that. Have you ever followed it?

No, I took a few courses at Kemptville College, and at Guelph University. Besides that I use common sense and John Lyons. I also learned alot from various breeders around this area that I have dealt with.
