Cold packs will help reduce itchiness and inflamation, if you can get him to let you hold cold packs on him for a little while.

Poor Buddy. Can you give him some Benadryl to help with the itching? Cause if it itches, nothing is going to keep him from it. Good luck.

Is he actually harming his foot (chewing it raw, making it bleed)? And also is it a new behavior?

My dog always chewed / groomed her foot when she was bored . . . but she never damaged it, she just kind of chewed on the hair between the pads.

It's because of his allergies, I'm sure. He's not made it bleed, but it is rather raw.

Thanks, Keri, I'll try that stuff out!

Awwwww….. I am so sorry. I have an allergy boy too that licks his paws till they are raw from grass allergies during the summer. We got some stuff by DVM Pharmaceuticals called “relief Spray†(many vets offices carry it) and it works well. For us the biggest things are keeping his feet rinsed after walking on grass, and actually strong tea helps with the inflammation and itching. You can dip the feet in the cool tea.

Also, have you tried the sock idea but with the vetwrap up the ankle to keep it in place better like Giny mentioned?

I know. He has me in tears whenever it flares up. I just don't know what else to do.

Poor Buddy. I have no suggestions, but I hope you can get it under control soon.
Thanks, Toller. We caught it pretty quick this time, so hopefully the meds will work some magic.

Yes, the sneaky boy learned from his sister how to get that stuff off right quick, lol. I mean, I'm glad he's smart, but c'mon! I'm trying to help him here.

I'll try the tea thing. Im actually not sure what is aggravating him about his feet- I need to do more investigating.
