I was walking Loki in the neighborhood and got offered stud service from a guy with a "badass pure white male." And at the last show we went to, two people asked us what Priest's stud fee was. Good times.

Absolutely . . . Several people really, really wanted a Bimmer puppy, and, well, there IS a sort of waiting list for Kharma puppies :rofl1:

But it's freaking insane how many people assume I'm going to breed Tallulah and are amazed when I tell them that I'm not, that I don't have her papers for starters and that there are far too many APBTs out there without papers AND without good homes.

Yep, someone once offered me a free stud service for a blue tick Coonhound. He looked in bad shape and Brenna was spade and long time before. He just appeared out of the blue and offered.

Actually, SEVERAL people have asked to "use" Gonzo... which is shocking! All of them had Border Collie girls, at least. But, still. I love my boy, but he isn't exactly a looker. The one that shocked me the most was some one at herding classes. I can't imagine why she would be interested considering how stupid I looked out there with him, and how hard he was for anyone to handle on sheep.

Getting asked to breed to your dog is pretty awkward. I wonder how many people would actually say "I don't know you or your dog, but sure!" The one time that I was actually touched by one of the requests was a guy who asked if I bred Gonzo, but who just wanted a puppy from him. He said he doesn't see "that kind" of Border Collie "around here"... which was heart-warming. : )

Fozzie has never had a breeding request. hehe. Lots of dognapping threats, though!

Blaze has many times.Once by a lady at petsmart too, get ready for this she had a ..

pug/beagle cross. WTF. She said they would make such different looking dogs. I just said they would be so ugly, not to mention Blaze is about 6 times the size of her dog and would kill her more then likley, she didnt get it.

People at the dog park say all the time I should breed him iw ould make lots of money (these are people who we dont know).
It just lets me sorta educate people on puppy mill dogs (since he is one) and why health testing is so importent ect

Smudge got propositioned in petsmart by a lady with a cocker b*tch..
I remember seeing that lady asking you. you handled it very niceley and gave good information. much better then I have done lol

I haven't been asked yet - he's still a babeh. :) I get asked all the time if he's a show dog though (which he is as of his show debut next weekend! *nervous*).

HOWEVER, educated people in the Weim world who know his lines and have seen him grow up through pictures have asked his breeder if I will be allowing him to stand at stud when he gets older. I'm not opposed to it, but it will not happen until he has his Can. Ch., possibly Am. Ch., all health clearances, and hopefully a CD (at least) and temperament testing. Basically, I'm not saying "hell no" to the idea, it's just that if he is ever bred, I want it to be because it'd bloody near be a crime NOT to, not "just because I can".

I ran into a girl I went to High School with the other day though, with her 3 year old Golden, and she informed me that he's sired a litter (in direct violation of the non-breeding agreement she signed for him) "for a friend", and was pissed that she got screwed over and didn't get any money, even though "they made 2200 bucks off the puppies". It took everything I had in me not to cuff her upside the head. I instead rather rudely inquired as to why she would do such a thing, and informed her that "that's as shitty a reason as you can get" when she responded "for the money!" Stupid ass people.

I used to get it all the time about my CatXAB. billybobs & ghetto boys hit me up all the time and they had everything from papered to unpapered to mutts.
the only thing i ever would have considered breeding him to was another working dog, but i lost him to a brain tumor before he reached a point where i felt he was breed worthy.
