Has anyone heard of TEKS KENNELS in Cloverdale, IN?

I wouldn't let this lady push you around. She screwed you in the first place and now its up to her to make it right...on your terms. I would not take the puppy and I wouldn't stop until I got my money back.

One puppy is hard enough to train, socialize etc. Two would be way worse especially if one of them had health problems.

I just got a message yesterday from my lawyer, he recieved a letter from Kritter Heaven's lawyer, they want to send me a puppy. I would much rather have my money back since I have already purchased my puppy elsewhere almost 2 months ago. I am not sure what to do. If I refuse it, I will probably never get any money back unless I FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT & there's still a chance I would not get my money anyway, or do I risk taking this puppy that possibly could have health problems. I am so unsure of what to do. I certainly do not need 2 puppies. I am sure I could find it a good loving home but I would want it to be 100% healthy if I was going to find it a different home. I don't want any problems by selling someone a sick puppy, cuz I wouldn't do that.

ANY SUGGESTIONS?????

Annette
Don't take the puppy from them. It would just mean another victory for these people.

Even if you have good intentions and would want to find a good home for this pup, it would still be the easy way out for them in yet another case.

If you have the energy, I'd say - fight, fight, fight. For all those who have been scammed, and for those who could possibly be scammed in the future.

I also urge everyone to make a webpage and put as much information about these people on it as possible (e.g. all names they have operated under, phone numbers and so on). The more material is out there, the more likely it is for people to stumble across it. Spread the word.

Wow this is an amazing thread...I still can't beleive how many people bought puppies from her. I'm not blaming it's just crazy how popular her kennel was. Was she on every puppy selling website or something. That is just aweful and I can't believe she is only "facing" charges still and hasn't been charged, fined AND put behind bars. Serously how many complaints does she need to have to get completely shut down, because she's obviously still at it.

Hello, I am also a victim of Tammy Gilchrist and I am so relieved to have found all this information. Yes, I was an irresponsible consumer and did not research before I bought. I was caught up in the idea of finding the dog I had been looking for and surprising my children. But, after reading all the posts on this thread I have a new light on how to buy a puppy. Here's my story... about 4 weeks ago I purchased an adorable Schnoodle puppy from Tammy. I drove 2 1/2 hours to get there... when I got there I wanted to turn around and leave, which is what I should have done, but I had my very excited children with me. So they picked out a puppy and we got her home that night and she started to vomit. I took her to the vet and she had gotten worse with vomiting and diahhrea. They gave her some meds told me to watch her and bring her back if she got worse. They mentioned to me that she might have Parvo. To make a very long and sad story short I had to take her back to the vet the next day, they kept her and she died 2 days later.

I want to help stop this woman.

Hello!

I am very sorry to hear this story and it can happen in any country. I morally support all people who became victims of this woman and hope she will be punished.

Nevertheless I fully agree with Elissa:

...she does not represent ALL breeders who ship dogs.

Sometimes having a dog shipped is the only way you are going to be able to get the breed of dog you want.

Where I live I could not find any reputable poodle breeders, so I had one shipped in from Oregon. By calling it "mail order dogs" you make it sound worse then it is....
Elissa
Breeders buy dogs from different countries constantly to improve lines and quality but they do not always have possibility to see puppies in real. It is not "mail ordering" if you deal with a reputable breeder who`s name is well known in the dogworld.

Annette... I wouldn't take any puppy from these people for a simple reason. It is clear (after reading first couple of posts) what these people are and what their business is. They do not do breeding, they buy poor animals somewhere (I sometimes get such offers to sell puppies wholesale... brrr), hold them in bad cheap conditions, fake documents and re-sell to others. Many puppies die on the way but they do not care. They make money, end of the story.

Best luck to you.

I am really sorry to hear about another rip off from kritterhell, you need to take action against them because the more people we have the better. You can contact me and I can let you know alot of places to list complaints. I thought they probably up and left because a week or so ago they had a puppy for me that had to be vet checked to be flown to me, and now I cant get them to respond to me again. I also know in saying this I will get alot of people telling me not to take one so I will answer that right away, they have my money and my kids want their Pug that they were promised for months. I just dont have the money to pay for another one for them. I think you can get my email on here, if not reply back. Sue

purple sue, I would not get another puppy from her. I understand she has your money and that your kids want the dog they were promised and that you don't have money to get another one BUT....I realize you are out your money but pug need to be carefully bred or they end up with major health problems. A badly bred pug will cause you a lot more money and your kids a lot of pain and suffering than waiting until you can save enough money to buy from a reputable breeder. I mean how would your kids feel if they got their dog and it had to be put down days later due to parvo or months later due to other conditions? I think it is in your best interests to lose the money you gave her and save up for one from a good breeder. This way if you get a pug from a good breeder you will get a health guarantee and this way if something happens to the dog the breeder will be there for you and may even help with vet bills. This you WILL NOT get from Tammy. Im not going to tell you what to do but this would be in everyones best interest IMO.

purple sue, I agree fully with savethebulliedbreeds. Pug is a breed what can have lots of health problems if not proper breeding. Read how many complain that her puppies die...! And I hope you will get your money back from that woman through the legal actions.

To BAW the schnoodle gal

Did you contact Tammy Gilchrist after your puppy died?? I am just curious what her story is & what her reply was to you. Tell us about the kennel. I am very curious to know what it was like? And what was Tammy & Julie like in person? I am from NE & never got the opportunity to see the kennel, I just got ripped off!!! I am so happy I did not get one of their puppies. I know I would be in & out of the vet's office if I did have one of their puppies. Did you pay her cash since it was in person?? Did the puppy look healthy on the outside? Can you guys imagine how many puppies die there each day. BAW just had the puppy in her home for only a few days before it died. It would've died at the kennel if she had not bought it. What do they do with all the dead animals? Anyone who got a "PARVO FREE" puppy from this place is pretty darn lucky in my opinion. Tell us more BAW, we are all very curious. You can email me privately if you'd like.

I also want to know what the kennel was like, I would also like to know if there is anyone out there that ever got a healthy puppy from them. I know that they have alot of dead puppies and that is why it is good to keep sending the police out there to look around.

I think it would be harder to find people that got healthy dogs because they would not be looking on web sites to investigate being ripped off by Kritter Heaven, ya know what I mean?? There's a few posted on Chazhound, well one for sure, that says they had a smooth transaction with them. I know if I would've gotten a dog from them & it was healthy & happy, I probaby would not have stumbled across all of you nice people cuz I would have nothing to complain about, so why look on the internet? And heck, I love getting email from you guys!!! I still hate the fact that they ripped me off but.........I have met some extremely nice people from many different places!! I just kind of think of it as I paid $800 for all these nice new friends I have!! hehehe, not really, just kidding!!!! But it'd be interesting to talk to someone who had a positive transaction with these people. Maybe some of them will see these postings.

I Agree!!!!!

:D I met some very nice and caring people through this ordeal too. I pray together we'll be able to put a stop to these unfortunate animals having to be in their care. United we stand, divided we fall. I see us standing proud at the end of this, whenever it may happen, but I believe it will!

I too would like to hear any positive outcomes/dealings (if any) that took place with Kritter Heaven. It would be very interesting to see how many? If there are any out there please share with us!

Response to Annette

Tammy's place is a small farm, you drive back a long lane and her house and all the animals are back there. To the left of the drive was several farm animals and a round pen with a few foals in it. Then there was a kennel type looking structure that had dog pens outside of it. Her house is very small and right beside the house were 2 pens full of puppies. My first instinct was holy crap why does she have so many puppies. She told me that was only half of what she had last week. She told me she had over 50 puppies. There was probably about 20 or so left when I got there. So, I wonder how many other people got sick dogs that haven't found this website yet.

I called her the day my puppy died. She seemed remorseful and told me and I quote "I will give you a refund so you can buy your kids another puppy, but I need a few days to sell a puppy and then I will send you your money." What a line of @#$*!!!!!! I waited 2 weeks and heard nothing. I called her back and she told me that it would take atleast a month for me to get my money back and then she told me she needed copies of my vet records. I asked her why she didn't tell me that when I spoke to her 2 weeks prior, she didn't have response.

Yes, I did pay cash and she gave me this paper to fill out with my name, address, etc... after reading it further it actually is a paper that says they offer no health guarantees, no refunds, etc etc... I was so very stupid to sign this and even more stupid for taking one of her puppies. I was misled... she handed me the paper after we picked out the puppy and my kids were playing with her... they obviously know what they are doing.

Yes, my puppy (we named her Lucy) looked healthy. She slept quite a bit on the drive home, but she's a puppy, I didn't think twice about it until she started vomiting and had diahrrea when we arrived home. The only good thing about this entire experience is that atleast Lucy got to be loved for a very short time, but she did not die in that hellhole of a place!!!!!

Tammy is about 5'5"" and has long dyed blonde hair... she is smaller built and looks kind of rough. Her associate Julie is a larger brunnette person and she also looks very rough. But in person, they were very nice and seemed genuine. I AM SUCH A SUCKER! The thing that gets me too is that they advertised on domesticsale.com as Rescues and they told me that they rescue puppies from bad environements and find them homes. I though I was doing a good thing buying a puppy from them. Wow, did they fool me or what.

Well, I am in this with the rest of you and will not rest until she is forced to stop this crap! Those poor little animals. Her place is probably so infected with parvo that they don't contract it until they get to her place. She does not realize how much she has ruined our pet experience in my household. I am so scared to get another pet. Although we only had Lucy in our house for 1 1/2 days before she got admitted to the vet clinic, I have bleached my floors and threw out all the brand new toys we bought her... I am so scared that parvo is still in my house that I can't even buy my kids another pet.

So, let me know what I can do, feel free to e-mail me anyone on what I can do if you don't want to publicly post it. I am just so glad I found this site.

Oh, I forgot to tell you too that on one of the other phone calls I had with Tammy she told me I should sue my vet because they misdiagnosed Lucy and there is no way she could have had parvo.

Let's close down these thieves and puppy abusers!!!!!!!

OMG, got to do something soon!

 That just makes cry! Poor Lucy! Thankfully she was with you and your family even if for a short time. She got a taste of life and love. My heart goes out to you and your family.

As for the vet. She told me my vet was a bad vet when he diagnosed my puppy's heart murmur. Tammy swears all animals get an internal scan. What a load of crap! He never got a scan, medical treatment of any sort, let alone an examination by a vet! My vet and I asked for their vet's name. Tammy refused to comply, other than I should get a different vet.

My husband and I believe if our puppy could talk the stuff he would tell us! We know he is grateful for us being somehow lucky enough to get him, as well we feel lucky to have him (with medical conditions and all)! Maybe his name should be Lucky, instead of Fenway? Well, at least his nickname!

Myself, Annette, Sue and Rebecca along with you will do all that we can to get them shut down and hopefully pay restitution to everyone that has complained. If this was made more public, maybe more people would come forward with their horror stories!

baw, I feel so bad for you. I feel bad for you all. This woman is horrible and I hope there is more that can be done to shut her down. Has anyone thought of taking this to a network that has shows like W Five or something like that. Maybe they would be willing to do a story on this. That would help a great deal. They would most likely send someone undercover in there pretending to be buying a puppy and film it with a hidden camera to show how many dogs she has.

Also, baw. I would wait at least 6 months to get another puppy since you have recently been in contact with parvo. Parvo can stick around for quite a while. Another thing you may want to consider when you buy another puppy is to not take the puppy away from the breeder until it has had all its vaccinations including the boosters. I think you would be pretty safe bringing a puppy into your house.

I really wish there was more I could do to help all of youl, but I am in Canada, so other than giving some support here in Chaz, I don't know if there is more i CAN do.

Best of luck to you all.

Might be something to look into!

Is W five something like 20/20, 48 hours or 60 minutes? I've never heard of it. That is a great idea though!

Yup, its the same sort of thing. I think its a Canadian show though (?). I know W Five did a show on exposing puppy mills in Ontario once. It was really good and very informative!!
