This is so nice that she was able to come home for the night. She does look like she's resting comfortably and that is soooo important for her body to heal. I continue to think of her and send my heartfelt wishes for her continued improvement. She may very well pull through this. Do let us know how she does through the day. (((hugs))) to you....such a hard time. But looking brighter.

Thanks everyone for the continued prayers, good vibes, and well wishes.

Hannah did really well overnight, and we dropped her off at the vets this morning. She did well there today - they took her cathedar our and relased her to us this afternoon. She is now on a prescription diet permanently and will be taking a medication called gastricalm as well. Dr. Amat says that it's safe to say she will always have these issues, and that it's pretty certain that try as we may to prevent them, they are still going to occur throughout her life. The key now is to treat the flare-ups so that they aren't so severe, but we'll never be able to prevent them 100%.

But for now, she's home, she's happy, and she's recovering. She's back to being the couch hog she always has been, and she has her appetite back...she's been really laying it on thick since we got home about an hour ago. Dr. Amat said every time they fed another animal at the clinic, Hannah would stand up and sniff at them...I know she's hungry, but we have to take it VERY slowly right now.

So, that's the latest update. :)

Oh, I'm so relieved that she made it through this bout. With the meds combined with the diet, hopefully, she will have bouts few and far between. She is very lucky to have you taking such good care of her. I'm so glad she's feeling better and is comfortable. Enjoy her and try not to worry. That's what I'm working on, myself with Lyric and his illness. One day at a time. Our dogs live one day at a time and if only we could learn from them. Take the joy and grab it. (((hugs)))

Prednisone is sure making Lyic feel better and giving him his appetite back. He got so skinny. He's on a low dose. I don't know if it's applicable in Hannah's case. But while it can have side effects, it also does a lot of good in certain situations.

I'm so happy for you both . Prednisone is a great drug when used properly . It's a damned if I do and damned if I don't drug . As long as you have a Vet that knows what he's/she's doing , great ! I've had many dogs put on it over a time with great results . It's almost like Ritalin for kids today ...easy to prescribe , but side affects and long term usage can be harmful .

Hannah actually takes a low dosage of prednisone intermittently for her Addison's disease. I'm not sure if it would need to be a different dosage for treating her digestive issues.

My dane, Mugsie, who had IBD was on prednisone, and it did help him.

It's definitely something I'd be open to if they felt it would help her.
