This is coming from a BIG fan of Greyhounds, but when I was a child the only time I was ever exposed to a grey was in pictures/tv during races with their muzzles on, they did seem intimidating for a child who knew nothing of the breed.

Now I see them as big love bugs thanks to all the Greyhound rescues in this world who brought to light that this breed is much more then a racing machine. A breed that I hope some day to be apart of our family.

I'm not really sure why she thinks their scary, I'll have to ask her at our match today. I don't think she's scared of dogs though, she likes Izzy when I bring her to practice...

Hey, watch it! I'm a freshman too! XD Quit stereotyping~
I call the freshmen on the team 'the noob crew,' affectionately of course :D
I of course have never been a freshman ;) lol

I can see how some kinds of dogs would look intimidating (especially if the dog was snarling ;) ), but a greyhound? Their legs are so skinny compared to their chest that they just look kind of goofy.

I think that Greyhounds are one of the least intimidating breeds! They're so skinny, and always look so laid back. Their eyes always look so sweet, and I've never met one who wasn't friendly.

Well, they are big and black (remember the study which said home invaders were most afraid of black dogs regardless of breed?) or GASP! Brindle.

I don't find greyhounds scary at all. Nor do I find their eyes unreadable in the least. I am considering adopting a retired racer(s) one day.

I will eat your children!

Mmmm . . . delicious . . .
Umms, excuse me, you shouldn't feed your greyhounds childrens like that. You're reinforcing the nasty stereotypes! :lol-sign:

I can't believe anyone would find them scary. They have such sweet faces!

llol funny thread, great pics. My friend and I were admiring some greys one day, when we were sitting around having a hunt breakfast (which happens just before noon after a field hunting) The people hosting the hunt have adopted over time a small fleet of greys. We joked that some of them could stab you if they ran up to you too fast (they were quite friendly) with those long narrow pointy muzzles.

LOL. That was the first dog I ever wanted. And maybe oneday I will adopt one but my three are plenty right now. But I still have to say they are one of the prettiest dogs out there. I just can't see them as scary. Even after looking at those pictures up top. LOL

I don't find them at all intimidating, but I know what they are like. Some people are just afraid of dogs. Some are just afraid of big dogs. I knew one buy who was afraid of beagles. That someone found them scary says nothing about greyhounds one way or the other.

i can see how someone warey of larger dogs could find a grey a little intimidating, there not exactly small dogs...
it might simply be because of their size.

personally id see if shed be willing to meet a couple with you just to show her how sweet those babies can be!

I don't really see many dogs as intimidating but I can see why people would. I saw a rescue group last week and a couple of them were so well muscled it kinda shocked me. When I have seen them before they were just kinda skinny hounds but these dogs were ripped:yikes:
