I love how he/she admits to being a troll and then denies it in the same thread.

That's great light reading while in the dentist chair high on happy gas!!! LOL

( Just waiting for some darn post thing and exrays, happy from the gas, terrified and needing a distraction so... I came here! )

Thanks Coop, that troll was annoying I think more because of how totally oblivious he was to his own contributions to getting people wound up!!!
I need to find a dentist that does the happy gas :) My fear of the dentist is that nasty needle they stick into my gums. the rest I can deal with but I was happy gas lol. but it seems weird to call around and say "Hi... do you have gas?" :rofl1:

yes it is frustrating when people won't admit their own fault in a situation like this. but on the other hand I think we also need to look at how we kept the cycle going. fun? maybe. but could the situation could have been diffused? :) heck by the end that person actually admitted to liking me haha. I started to get caught up in playing with the troll but then I started to wonder if I could get them to do a 180 and it almost worked lol.

That's a common misconception but a fun and sporting challenge to engage in at times. I dare say that trolls can play you like a fish on a line. That's their game. They let you take the bait, set the hook, let you have a little slack to take the line out, then reel you back in, let you loose, reel you back in even tighter. No... trolls will NEVER do a 180 and become normal because they don't have an affliction or a disease. They have a personality disorder. But granted, it's fun to see what you can make them do.

Meh... there wasn't really much to "play" me on. but I disagree that they can't be changed. I think once someone is on the defensive they aren't going to calm down until you do something to help get their defenses down. take them off of the defensive.

Just like an irate customer. They come in with the idea that they are going to go up one side of you and down the other. but you just keep smiling and saying "wow sir I'm so sorry that happened to you. what can I DO to help you out" more times than not they are taken off the defensive and realize you aren't out to get them. sometimes you need to find a common ground like "Oh no... I had that happen to me once. it's the worst. let me fix it for you"

NOW that's not true all the time lol there are people who there is just no reasoning with, like the customer I posted about in the fire hydrant who was likely just trying to scam me out of my product and my money... BTW I kept the money and they kept the product when they realized Paypal wasn't going to award them everything.

But it's a fun little social experiment :) if what I tried didn't work, no skin off my back. it was worth a shot :) it's always worth a shot to be nice to someone even if they aren't nice back to you. It's a lesson I'm in the process of learning lol and not to be confused with being a doormat.

You're talking about regular humans though. ;) Internet-forum trolls are the way they are because that's in their weave. Stirring up annoyance in other members, like a persistent mosquito buzzing around your ear, being overly obnoxious in exchange for attention is their sustenance. They can not survive without it. They lose their whole sense of self without the attention and fall into a black hole. They have fun and lots of enjoyment out of what they do and they're not about to morph into regular, boring humans who don't get anything but marginal notice from others. But I suppose it's fun to try. That's why we joke about playing with the trolls.

I'm not convinced this person was strictly a troll. a troll today? maybe. they were definitely antagonistic but looking through other posts of theirs they definitely had potential as a normal human being who was just having a sh!tty day lol

still deserved to be banned of course but I don't thinkt hey came here with the only purpose being to troll. usually trolls start trolling the second they start posting. this person didn't. they had potential :)

Did you see the raw thread? It was....entertaining to say the least and involved a lot of us trying to be nice. I eventually gave up and started posting lolcats. Lol. I don't subscribe to the kill 'em with kindness theory.

I did. but I also saw a bunch of other threads where they acted like a completely normal human being lol

I am not denying they deserved to be banned :) but in this thread I think our reaction to said person played a part in too :)

agree to disagree :)

I totally agree. Banning her was understandable but we definitely aren't completely innocent here at Chaz and I do notice that when we get a member (specifically new ones) who clearly disagree or are not as well-informed and argue, people like to egg them on, call them a troll and make fun of them.

While I love chaz, I dislike seeing stuff like that because it makes our forum look bad. Just my opinion though.

Agree to kind of agree with each other! Which I think is what's going on but my brain has been rotted by being an advocate for raw food and treating my dogs like humans. :lol-sign:

(I totally missed the normal human being threads - I find that interesting given their behavior here and in the raw thread.)

I totally agree that this does happen - but I really don't feel like it happened here. This person was deliberately posting things that didn't make sense and flat out admitted to it.

HAHA Ok Agree to half agree :p

I missed the normal threads too. it wasn't until this thread that I felt compelled for some strange reason to see if there was any sign of normalcy

They were baiting... from the word go on this thread.

And for someone who has "15 years" experience training dogs and fostering, the threads they did post didn't quite add up.

Maybe they managed to be civil in other threads, but I'm pretty confident this thread was trolled.

I'm not denying this thread was trolled... I just don't see that there was no hope for the person at all lol. I agree with them being banned. the behaviour in this thread was not acceptable...

but I also don't think we are all blameless :) trolling the troll can be just as bad :)
