I'll always have at least one Koolie and one Silken in my crew :D
In the future, I'd like to experience owning...

* Borzoi - when I was 12 I was looking through a picture book and saw a painting of a Borzoi and that was (aesthetically) my ideal dog and I've been dreaming of them since. I've been able to spend some time with a number of them and they're just such impressive dogs - devastatingly sweet but also with a powerful presence.

* Malinois - I'd love to get one for training. I'd really like to get into IPO/ringsport someday.

* Borderstaffy or borderwhippet - I've been looking up BS videos and they look like FUN dogs! I don't have any experience with lurchers, but I've been thinking that if I could combine the traits of Circus and Lugia it'd be... an amazingly beautiful thing.

* If I could find the perfect herding mix in rescue and the timing was right... I'd have a hard time saying no.

I can't believe I'm admitting this, but I'm looking at Golden Retriever breeders. I never EVER thought I'd consider a Golden.

I love them <3 eternally. I don't care if people say they are too popular they are too popular for a reason they are like sunshine encased in rainbows LOL

See, I'm not really a sunshine kind of girl. I'm more like tornado weather.

A good retriever is one of the most underappreciated groups in many dog sports. Yay trieverheads!

(You knew I couldn't resist commenting on this, haha)

Both. I definitely intend to have APBT and American Foxhounds for a very long time. There's a possibility of a lab sneaking in there somewhere.

My primary interests for the coming years are Malinois and Tollers, with a sprinkle of a few others breeds (Bull Terriers, possibly SBT, CWC, possibly GSDs, Kelpies, BCs, etc).
Wow, I forgot Dalmatians. They're pretty high up on my list.

Rick really likes Goldens, a few smaller breeds, and beagles. He told me the other day that "pit bulls were definitely his favorite breed", so there's that.

We really love all sorts of dogs and will have quite the variety for years to come. :)

Ryan REALLLLLY wants a pit bull. He likes to say "Sure we can have another terrier, it just has to be a pit bull terrier!" And I do really like them, and I have a friend here who works in an amazing rescue that would love to find one for us. I imagine we will end up with one when Siri passes.

For as many annoying issues as Bloo has, she's a truly amazing dog. She was a great introduction to owning the breed.

I really really want an Aussie. I've been doing my research, know several Aussies IRL that I am absolutely in love with. I also want a bigger dog.... But then.... Every once in a while I get nervous and think "smaller is better" because I am not home a lot and the girls are small enough they are always with me! I love the temperament from these guys. Very similar to my shelties only less "sharp" I guess I would say. A bit more chill and less OMGIHAVETOBERIVHTNEXTTOYOU. lol. If minis were a legit thing, I'd be surely tempted.

The other breed I am like almost afraid to admit out loud (LOL) is BC. At our training club there's a handful of BC's and I just love them. Most of them are from a hobby breeder down in medina, ones a rescue, and ones from another breeder. They're just not the "scary stereotypical" BC type that you always get warned of. I love them, and I could totally live with one. The rescue is a little quirky, kind of like Bailey only more intense. The other dog from a different breeder is a but job, poor thing. LOL. The intensity would be new, but I love the attentiveness and trainability. Again, I worry about size.

I sooooo wish I could meet an ES in person!!! They're very much on my list of research all the things.

I've always liked greyhounds, too. Though they're pretty much the opposite of the kind of dog I usually look for. I just want. <3

Of course, there's always "my" breeds in the back of my mind too :p lol

Pit bulls are for me like springers are for you. I WANT TO WANT THEM. I love the rescue, I love the look of the dogs, I just... don't think I want to live with them? But I want Marnie (and she's most definitely not a pit bull).

Minis ARE a legit thing. They are AKC FSS registerable now as Miniature American Shepherds. 13-18" tall and 20-40 lbs on average. So sheltie to small aussie in size.

Here is the breed club for the AKC version: http://www.mascusa.org/

Minis have been around almost as long as aussies have. The drama was due to some mini people saying their dogs were a miniature size variety of aussies. The ASCA does not recognize aussies in size varieties and AKC will not accept new varieties of existing breeds. So they switched the name to avoid drama. Studbooks close in Dec 2014.

I was actually supposed to go to a mini aussie (er... american) show today but was sadly unable to.

I like the size range on minis better (most aussies I know are like 50+ lbs). They are very popular in disc dog.

Thanks for sharing Laur :) I've only seen the drama with the toy/mini Aussie as you said.... I understand the name change - Miniature American shepherds to avoid that, now it can do my research and find some not-so-scary breeders!
Thanks for the link!

I'm with you on that one! The Aussies I train with, makes especially are pretty large. I think I'd be better with a Cara-sized Aussie or smaller. The MAS seem like they could be a good future breed for me.... Are you considering them as well??? I'd love a chance to go to a show and meet some in person

Yep I'm considering them very highly for one of my next couple dogs! There's a breeders list on the breed club page that had some good/decent ones.

I'm sad I missed the show. I have met some in person but would love to meet more well bred ones. I'd love a dog around 30 lbs and 17". There was a red and white in one of my agility classes and it was just a great fun dog.

Well obviously it means you have Springers for me to want to want and I'll have pit bulls for you to want to want. Or something.

Everyone who can't have Marnie, wants Marnie. I certainly do.
