well we arent' the original adopters of him so they should be the ones getting in trouble with the shelter. The shelter is involved because our friends adopted him from the shelter and gave him to us. So they signed a contract stating the dog was for them and he wasn't. I have already talked to the shelter and told them that this woman will be down on Monday to sign the contract and to pay the adoption fee. I also gave them the woman's name, address and telephone number so they could call her with any further questions or anything. So if all goes as it should Maverick will have his forever home on Monday. It's sort of sad but it was ultimately my husband's decision and he decided that Maverick may be best in the home that he is in now.

Good, Julie! That sounds like the best arrangement. Your "friends" who dumped him on you weren't on the up and up if the shelter agreement is that Mav went back to them. BTW, why did they "dump" him on you?

They never wanted him to begin with they adopted him because they thought we would like him. Which we did like him but he isn't a dog we would have picked out for ourselves, seeing as we were already looking into other breeds of dogs and they knew that we were looking into other breeds.

What I simply meant was that she said several times that the shelter wants the dog back, because she is not the legal adopter. So, to prevent further issues, she should give him back to them, and let the other family deal with getting him that way. I have worked in shelters, and unfortunantly saw first hand what they can do in situations like these. If they continue to ask her to bring him back, she should listen...which I am sure she will!!! I am trying to give her info that could possibly help her in her decision. She needs to think of all scenarios while making this decision. I am sure that they will not take legal action, but she should be aware that they could! Just reading her posts, I know that she has the best interest of EVERYONE involved in mind...and she and her husband will do what is right.

Well, Julie, you beat me on the post timing. I am glad that you finally were able to reach a decision that you are comfortable with. I am sure that everything will work out alright. If it doesn't, it is no longer your issue, and you did what you could! Glad to hear that you gave the shelter the info you did, so that they can follow through on him! Good luck with your poodle pup!!!

We are getting a standard poodle. It's a black female and she'll be about 3 and a half months old when we get her. I had originally put the deposit on her long before she was ready to come home and then after Maverick I called the breeder said I probably wouldn't be taking her but my husband decided to let me take her even though we already had the two dogs so I called back and she had actually still been holding her for me (she figured I'd decide to buy her).

This one poodle I used to know named Rosa, black and standard, was so adorable and cute! She had an awesome personality. The people who I worked for owned a horse farm and she would always get so excited when she saw me. So cute.

I'm hoping she'd make a good friend for Hannah, and they are easy to train so I'm hoping I could get her into something like agility or some other sport.

Yay! I will come groom her. LOL I love standards. They are gorgeous and so elegant.
I want to try to learn to groom her myself but I know she's gonna end up looking a little wierd until I can figure it out myself. I was told it was much cheaper to just do it ourselves. If we have something important like a family gathering then she'll get done professionally otherwise I will try my hand at grooming her.

Well the women went to the shelter today and readopted Maverick. We celebrated by taking him to petsmart and getting him an official tag with his name and their address on it along with his own brand new bed and bowls. I think she'll be happy with him and I KNOW for sure he is SO happy with them.

This made me crack up something fierce, which has now led to a fierce coughing fit. :(

But good luck on the Poodle procuring! Beware of burrs though, these dogs are like supermagnents for them and they are very hard to get out.
