Aww Julie! When it rains it pours ... Maverick is such a fiesty little boy, isn't he. When he comes back, which I'm sure he will, I hope he'll learn a lesson. When Spencer (my lhasa) was alive, Tony and I and the kids went on a four day vacation to Lake George and left him with Tony's parents. Well, we cam home and I had like ten messages on the answering machine regarding Spencer. He got loose and wandered off. A nice couple found him about 3 miles from my inlaws house, read his tag, called city hall, got my phone number and left a messages for us. After a day or two they had no choice but to leave him with my vet (they got that info from city hall). I immediately called my vet and they said that animal control was on their way over to get him because it was over a day with no contact. I told them I was on my way and NOT to let him go! Thank god I live 1/2 mile from the vet. I pulled up my car and the animal control was JUST going into the door. I got there in the nick of time. I also had to pay the vet close to 100.00 for the boarding cost  I've never forgiven my inlaws for it. They didn't even bother to go look for him! If it was my mother, she'd be a wreck driving everywhere to look for him.

Calling your vet is a very good idea! I'm crossing my fingers for you! He'll come back!

Sure hope he comes home or you find him. We have to be very careful with Princess because once she gets out she runs off. So far we have been lucky, when she's done checking the outside world out she's returned on her own. It's scarey when they get out and wander.

Sometimes the best mannered dogs make a break for it, Julie.

Another thing to do is print up a flyer with his photo from your computer and ask the area vets to post it in their offices. That way they know to be on the lookout for him if someone brings in the dog they 'found' the vet will know who he belongs to. Also, people who are taking their own animals to the vet will tend to be more aware of other dogs they see.

Oh I hope he comes home right away or you find him. Is he neutered? If not he may have found a female in heat. Let us know what has progressed. Best Wishes

I am so sorry Julie he's a cute pup. When I was younger we had a beagle who made a run for it. She had a collar and tags on her and she was microchipped. It was almost more then a month when we finally tracked her down she had been moved to PA!!! Luckily we had family there and made the trip to go and get her. The people DID steal her and they admitted to it (it was their son actually).

Probley not the best thing to tell you but im just telling you what happened to us but we definatly got her back. She was worth ALOT of money though.

Sounds your doing everything you can right now to find him. Flyers are a good idea too and don't limit yourself to just your area. They can travel long distances.

He hasn't been seen yet. I called the vet and I made flyers and we're going to go post them at the vet's office and local petstores. I think he wants to come home, he's probably just honestly lost is all. We'll find him though.

Julie, I am so sorry he has not made it home. I am saying prayers he will. It is a horrible feeling to have your baby missing, you literally have a hole in your heart. Roxie and Duke both escaped one day and I had to go looking for them, they decided 5 acres wasn't enough and they needed to tour the neighborhood.(little brats) It can happen to anyone. That does not make you a bad pet owner just a victim of circumstances beyond your control. And husbands, they can be such rain clouds during these times. Don't give up.

We've called all the shelters up to two towns over thinking maybe someone from a neighboring town might have been visiting, and picked him up and brought him to their shelter. I'm a nervous wreck and I'm going to go drive around and check the shelters agian.

Don't give up! Start knocking door to door if you have to and see if someone found a cute puppy wandering around lost and decided to give it a new home out of misguided compassion.

we're not I have been door to door for three blocks and shown his picture and told them where I live. I found out the general direction that he went to though. I got my fingers crossed he'll get found tonight, my husband had no luck driving to and looking at the shelters yet.
