Cider's got one. Was $35 for a lifetime license with proof of altering.

Smudge isn't. It's $65 a year for an intact dog, no lifetime option. That is a cash grab to me.

When we lived here before, dogs were licensed every year. We moved back in the middle of the year and I didn't take care of it. I'm currently checking our laws anyways...

Ours are due by April 1st.

$5 for spayed/neutered
$10 for unspayed/unneutered
$40 for up to 12 dogs plus $4 for each tag thereafter

Ours are cheap compared to most of you guys. 3/yr for spayed, 6/yr for intact, and you can get up to a 3 yr license. There's a 1 dollar admin fee. So Daisy and Bruzer were 10 bucks for 3 yrs, Gunnar was 13 bucks for 2 yrs. You have to show proof of rabies shot to get the license.

Basically where does the money go ? I don't know a soul here that pays !! Should I just forget it ?
Here in NJ, the lower fee goes to the town for animal control, etc. The additional charge for un altered dogs goes into the state fund for low cost spaying and neutering.

Grammy, I don't know anyone who has an actual town license either! Me included, LOL

We pay so much darned property tax that I just don't feel the need to give them MORE money. Our road hasn't been paved in the 11 years I've lived here (and it's needed it for the entire 11 years) Our school fees are ridiculous, book rental is high and they STILL send home junk to sell for this reason or that, the town police are laughable (I can tell you why if you want to know, LOL) and our car license fees really do not reflect the lottery money like they were supposed to from day one (one big selling point that got the IN lottery was to help the schools and car license fees, ya right). So no, I am not in the mood to pay a "dog tax" for my dog TYVM.

I highly doubt I will ever be fined since I never see a dog warden about town........in the 11 years I've lived here, never seen a dog catcher ONCE. When I called the "pound" about a puppy the neighbor's had moved away and left tied to the front porch, they sent a police man out to get him. So ya, not worried about being fined for having no tag. We keep the rabies up to date though :)

When I Googled dog licensing requirements for my area, even the nearest real city, what came up was....the dog sled races they have up year annually, hunting licenses, business licenses and Animal Planet's best dog parks in Idaho. :rofl1:

I haven't licensed a dog since I was a kid when my parents would license our dogs.

Dog licensing is just one more of the kazillion excuses to extract money from citizens' wallets so they can waste it and spend it however they like.

We've always had licenses for our dogs. 4-H required it. Won't have dogs to license this year.

I didn't do the licensing this year due to funds, but I haven't been given any fines or notices.

Teddy is Licensed only because they came to the door right after I moved back to town because they got a complaint that he wasn't licensed.I know who called my ex and Teddy's so called Breeder wanting to use anything to try to take him from me.Didn't work they let me pay and get one right then and there.I had it put in my mothers name as it is her house and got a discount since shes disabled it was 12 dollars.

It is rather cheap here... but Rosey is not licensed. I HATE the fact that she is not... but, not much I can do. I am just afraid that she will get loose, animal control will grab her, and it will cause me issues to go claim her, as she is not licensed. So there is no proof that she does belong to me, and then I get slapped for not licensing my dog.
