All 4 of my puffers wear their collars if we are walking, going for a car ride, anything that involves leaving the yard. Their collars have all their tags, rabies, micro-chip, address/phone no., name. They really rattle when they walk.
They also wear them if I am having company over and there is a chance for escape. ( I have a pool and lots of folks over on weekends to swim) Otherwise, they don't wear them. Lacey and Sandy tend to use them to flip the other on their backs. I would hate to have them get a broken neck.
I have a friend that had that very thing happen to his Malmute. His Dane was chasing the Mal, and while playing wrestled the Mal to the ground, and that was that.
it was so terribly sad.
They played like that all the time, but this time was too rough.
and my two girls play very rough. so.. no collars at home unless necessary.
