Mutts!

I'm a big fan of mutts I must say, but I can't say I would never own a certain breed because we rescue and I'm a sucker for anything that gives me that "look-at-me-im-so-cute-wont-you-take-me-to-a-forever-home-so-that-i can-live-with-you-and-love-you-and-be-your-best-friend-look."

a look sorta like this:

LOL! That's the look my current boyfriend gave me when I first met him. It is an addictive look.

our first dog that we have ever owned is a poodle. She is still with us, and I think that she is the smartest among our other two dogs -our border collie and our maltese-.

Blown out poodles look like they got into a fight with the blow dryer and the blow dryer won. Just my opinion, hope no one takes offense to that.
LOL:D

Giny... no offense !! The ones I've known have real narrow, boney noses,,, personally I like Boomer and Kassie looks over Tilly. Forgive me!! I haven't been around enough good toys !
lol bubbatd!
I'm not offended, we all have preferences in what we like and that's ok. I just didn't know what you meant by what you wrote. I wasn’t sure if it was whether they didn't have enough meat on their head for a nutritional purpose, or smarts. "lol"

I need to get a better picture of Tilly, that one just does do her justice. :D

Just thought I would throw this in here...

Thats not a pit, he is an american staffordshire bull terrier, which is a different breed. But the two breeds are related.

Correct me if I am wrong amstaffer.
He is a reg. American Staffordshire Terrier (Thus my name "Amstaffer") But there is really very little difference between the two (about 65yrs of breeding). Amstaffs can be signed up as Pit Bulls with the UKC.

I don't get upset when people call my dogs Pit Bulls (Athena is a rescue so is a street Pit Bull; her mother was used in a Pit Fighting ring as a breeder) because I realize many people use the term Pit Bull to address many different breeds. My family's nickname for my two dogs is "Those Pit Dogs" this is a name of pure affection.

Some Breeders (Sal's mom and dad owner) get very upset when people call their dogs Pit Bull.

I would have kept the huge dog that used to come visit Chip and me... ( wandered 3 miles 6 times !! ) in a heart beat. Was a mastif/GS mix, but she looked like a huge great dane. How she loved us !!

Most long haired breeds that need alot of grooming, etc. No specific breed though.
I'm not really into the dogs that 'yap'. Chihuahua, Jack Russell, etc.
Ofcourse, i'd love to own any breed of dog, including the ones i've listed.
I'd be put off designer dogs, not the actual dog, but the whole point of designer dogs.

For some reason I'm not too fond of any of the scent hound breeds. I also wouldn't want a dog that would have to be sent to the groomers every week. I'm not too fussed about what dogs I do/don't like and I'd be willing to own nearly any breed, but I'd probably rule out the giant breeds such as Great Dane because they're just a bit TOO big for me, though they are gorgeous!

My mind's gone blank but is it Giny that owns Tilly? I like the look of Tilly.. she has a pretty face.

By the way, for all the people who said they woudn't want a Chihuahua cause they'd be affraid of stepping on it, well I've owned my Chihuahua for nearly 6 years (in a household of 4 people) and she has probably only been stepped on (on her paw) once (not by me). My JRT x on the other hand.... He gets in the way a lot! Chihuahuas are like greyhounds in a way, they get bursts of energy and could outrun anyone (I don't think poeple realise just how fast these guys can run!), but they do start to get tired after a 2 hour walk.

I like most dogs, but the one I would never own would be a Pitt Bull. I dont like dogs that drool either, so that included quite a few different breeds. My favorites are the smaller dogs, but thats just my personality. The one large breed I would like would be a Portugese Water Dog, but thats about it for large breeds.

I would have to say I would never want a medium or large sized dog again, because of the life style I live now, I do not have room for a big sized dog and always having to move around, small dogs work best for me. I think some times I might "want" a bigger dog, but it just would not work out & I love being able to just pick Bailey up and go. He is 8.2 pounds now.

Just wondering...Why?
I'm curious, why is it OK for members to mention, many times, they wouldn't own a toy breed or a specific toy breed such as a Toy Poodle? But then when one mentions they wouldn't like a specific larger breed, such as a Pit Bull they are questioned? No offence, I know the breed has had difficult times at being put down by the media, politician and others and owners trying to fight BSL, but couldn’t it be that some would not like the breed. Just like some would not like toy breeds? I can understand questioning someone if they place false accusation on your breed of choice. But this member just mentioned she wouldn’t own one.

I just simply wondered why? I did not critize her. I was wondering was it looks, reputation, size, short hair.... I didn't ask anyone else on toy breeds because I don't own one, It just made me wonder, please don't be defensive.
