Dog breeds you would never own

Anything under 50lbs. My grandma has a 3lb chi and I get so scared that I might step on him and kill him, I can't deal with that constant worrying about where my feet are. Any dog with too many grooming needs. I also don't want a lazy breed. I need a dog that is always ready to go, we can just jump in the car and I don't have to worry about him getting tired. I prefer working breeds, who always have energy.

Specific breeds would be Komondor (they look scary with those dread looking things) Afgan Hound, Saluki (way to skinny) Borzoi (they look weird to me), Dachsunds and Bassat Hounds (looks like they have a difficult time walking)

Also I can't stand drool, so St.s and Newfies are out.

I like the majority of dogs, but the few I don't care for are: Goldens, Chihuahuas, and Chows. I have had a few bad experiences with these breeds in the past. One other... would be JRT's, they are hyper, I like more laid back big dogs.

Hi, toy poodles aren't my thing
I did at one time want an Akita in a big way, til I went to a dog show to check out the breed...one wanted to tear out of his pen and tear me apart, I changed my mind on that breed after, I still love the look of them, but would never own one
or hairless dogs....those are kinda freaky

There are a lot of breeds I wouldn't own. Not because I dislike them, but because I don't particularly "click" with them.
On the "no" list:
Breeds under 25lbs. Can't do the teenie-tinies anymore, not with the Border Collies.
Breeds known to be shy or very reserved will probably not be happiest in my house.
Pit Bulls and other breeds known for dog-aggression (even within the pack) probably wouldn't be happiest with me.
Low-drive, companion-only breeds won't fit in. No Pekes, Shih Tzus, Maltese etc.

It'd be easier for me to say which breeds I -will- consider owning. lol.

That would be a big list. There are very few terrier breeds I would own (not because I dislike them, but because terrier temperament and I would not be a good mix) and several of the giants breeds would be out (size plus dominance would be a no no in my house) and the entire toy group with the exception of the toy poodle and pomeranian (only because I've owned both and loved them as little individuals) and the more nose driven hounds and sporting group dogs would be out (I couldn't possible meet their needs) jeeps.... it ends up looking like I dislike so many dogs but I don't. I simply know my abilities and wouldn't want to short change a dog and I know my strong preferences that would make for personality conflicts with other breeds...

I would have to say english bulldog and any other breed that has alot of health problems and that doesn't live for very long. It's not that I don't think they are cute, because I do, I think they are adorable, but their life span is so short and too many health issues. I can't see paying $1500+ and only having it for a short amount of tme.

Any hound, because they stink.

Neo, fila, bernard, and newf, because they drool.

Pit bull, too much stigma, dog aggression, and poor breeding.

Wired hair breeds, because they look ugly, in my opinion.

Whipet, grey hound, borzoi, because they are too skinny.

Bull dog, and pug, because their folds smell.

Lab, and golden, because they are too common.

Well . . . after saying I had no desire to ever own a big jowly dog that bore no resemblance to my German Shepherds at all . . . and being totally besotted with the Riot Grrrls (although Filas are not as jowly as most Mastiff breeds), I'm not prepared to say never about any breed, lol!

Although I much, much prefer larger dogs and always have.

well I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings either! I like all breeds of dogs, but there are many I do not want to live with.

toy breeds, I'd step on them
hunting breeds, not for me
terriers, not for me
alot of the rare breeds don't impress me

I have a rather short list of dogs I DO like, mostly herding & working dogs, easier to post that LOL

I prefer active athletic trainable dogs which cancels out a lot of breeds. Nothing under 20 or over 100 pounds which is a pretty wide range.

Pulis poodles a lot of wired haried terriers are just to much maintenance in grooming

sighthounds are a little to sensitive for my taste and the chaos that i usually live in =)

terriers most bully and mastiff breeds hounds and nordic breeds are to much for me

and toys are just way to small for a girl who wants a running partner

Looks like im going to be sticking with herding breeds and maybe some sporting breeds

I didn't post this, to hurt anyones feelings. I just thought it would be interesting. With 8,000 plus members on chaz. Not everyone is going to have the same idea what they like or dislike in a dog. I do find it interesting that most of the breeds we either own, or the reason we don't like a specific breed/breeds has a lot to do with our personalitys. I think we are somewhat like our dogs.

All though I would have to say my dogs don't have a real bad houndy oder problem, but what I find funny is the saying I've heard before when someone is saying get out and get some fresh air they say " blow the stink off you". I find if my dogs are left in the fresh air too long they tend to stink more:confused: :D . I guess that saying doesn't apply to them:D
sorry it was off the topic, but it just made me think of that.

funny you mentioned the dogs like their owners thing lol, i suppose in a way:
chis are alert, sensitive, loving cuddle bugs who dont do well with strangers and im pretty sure are empathic alarm systems...and im definatly just that, especially with the social anxiety lol (i realy dont do well with strangers or crowds but those i do trust i lvoe unconditionally and will protect them no matter what (even if what im protecting them is 20million times bigger than me) and im definalty not as clingy as my chis are...
now if only i mimiked the size part...im definatly not some tiny little thing lol...

but then im also the opposite because i want a staffy also and think im also in a way like them...mabe i have multiple personality disorder and just dont know it lol. im definalty more of a staffy build though Stocky! (i like to call myself Curvy lol)

yeah i know...off topic. sry

Hey I don't put down dogs other that Goldens !!! A really love all BIG dogs... but depends on the breeding and temperment. That's why I've stuck with goldens for over 50 years. I'm sorry for those of you who have had bad experiences with Goldens and don't like them. I love the gentle giants of this world....whether mutts or pure breds.
