(Because I'm bored.) What are your top choices when you take the average dog breed selector? And do you find that those results are accurate; as in, would you own that breed of dog? Do you currently own one of the selected dogs?

I just googled and picked the top three quizzes.

Animal Planet Dog Breed Questionnaire
Dogtime Breed Selector
Select Smart Dog Breed Quiz

My top results from the Animal Planet selector:
At 98%:
1. Canaan Dog - never looked in to them before
2. German Shorthaired Pointer - I'd highly consider owning one
3. Pointer - honestly don't know much about them/how they differ from GSPs
At 96%:
4. Chesapeake Bay Retriever - my current breed of choice
5. Labrador Retriever - have owned, will own again!
6. Belgian Malinois - I've loved the ones I've met, but I'm not quite that crazy yet, I don't think
7. Pharaoh Hound - I've always loved the breed, but don't think a sighthound would be the best fit?
8. Wirehaired Pointing Griffon - wire haired = not my cup of tea

Dogtime:
1. Doberman Pinscher - not my cup of tea
2. American Water Spaniel - don't really know much about them
3. Curly Coated Retriever - on my list of "maybe some day"
4. Flat Coated Retriever - yes, but I'd pick a breed with a short coat over their coat type
5. German Shorthaired Pointer - apparently I should own a GSP

Select Smart: (all above 90%)
1. Weimaraner - all of the ones I've met have been neurotic, so that has kind of turned me off
2. Labrador Retriever - GSPs and Labs are apparently my breeds
3. Pointer - and Pointers
4. Poodle (standard) - too much grooming. But if I ever needed a non shedding dog? Sure!
5. Vizsla - I've loved the ones I've met
6. German Shorthaired Pointer - the world has decreed I am to own a GSP
7. Field Spaniel - considered one before I got Abrams, so I'd say a yes!

Overall, not too bad, I don't think. They definitely narrowed down my breed "type", even if different breeds have already been ruled out due to my own bias/personal experience. Post your results!

Animal Planet:
Belgian Malinois (98%) - plan on owning
Australian Cattle Dog (98%) - will likely own
Border Collie - (97%) - plan on owning
Beauceron - (96%) - maybe someday

Dogtime:
Portie - NO NO **** NO KILL ME. I HATE Porties.
American Water Spaniel - No.
Springer - My first dog, maybe will own another eventually
Field Spaniel - Meh.
Flat Coated Retriever - Yes.

Select Smart:
Rottie - eh
Weim - sure!
Aussie - sure!
Malinois - yes!
Anatolian - yesss

The AP one is most accurate, but these always seem to give me breeds I don't particularly like.

These are fun!!

Animal Planet:
1) Australian Cattle Dog at 97%--- yes please. :D
2) Border Collie at 96%-- possibly
3) Brittany at 96%-- most likely not
4) GSP at 96%-- most likely not, but would be my pick of the sporters in the selected group
5) Pointer at 96%-- probably not
6) Irish Setter at 95%-- nahh.
7) Lab at 95%-- hell no.

Dogtime:
1) Dobe- pretty but no thanks
2) Standard Schnauzer- uhm, no.
3) Chessie- best fit out of the bunch, but not for me
4) English Cocker Spaniel- nah.
5) FCR- no thanks.

3) Toller-- probably not
4) Brittany-- nope

Animal Planet said border collie at 98% and nothing else as far as I can see but maybe I'm missing something...

DogTime:
German Pinscher - Really..? What?
Standard Schnauzer - meh.
American Water Spaniel - spaniels don't appeal to me at all when it comes to looking at a dog to own so this is weird.
Brittany - see above
English Cocker Spaniel - more of the above.

Select Smart: Apparently Laur and I have similar desires in dogs and are both supposed to have eskies.
American Eskimo-Standard (100%) - no.
Brittany Spaniel (92%) - apparently DogTime agrees on this one
American Eskimo Dog-Toy (89%) - more no
American Eskimo-Miniature (89%) - and yet more no
Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever (85%) - this one I could actually see.
Welsh Corgi (Pembroke) (85%) - I do like Pemmies but I'm just not sure if I could ever see myself owning one since they tend to be assholes...

Collie was 75% on this list, Belgians at 70%, sheltie at 68% and border collie down at 61%... so... I'm gonna call this one a fail.

The AP one is obviously the closest, I like my shelties a little more cranked than most people (case in point Payton.) so border collie is pretty close. I still find myself thinking I'll have a BC or BC mix one day.

Animal Planet:
Brittney, 98% - No. Just no.
Irish Setter, 97% - Seriously? I don't think so. What happened to minimal grooming?
Lab 97% - I could do the right lab, but generally they are way too labby for me.

Dogtime
Kuvasz - What? Are you serious? I don't think so
Flat Coat - I don't think so
GSP and then GWP - I don't like the energy of the sporting dogs that I have met.
Golden - While I do love Goldens, I couldn't own one. They are too dang happy, all the time.

I tried to do the other one, but it didn't give me results. I don't know what happened there. Why do all of these quizzes think I like sporter dogs? I don't like them, I like herder-brains.

I got Retrievers and Spaniels and Scenthounds on pretty much all 3. I would never consider a Spaniel, and I would probably never consider a purebred Retriever... maybe something mixed. I would probably never consider a scent hound.

I got a Pharoh hound on the Animal planet one, but otherwise no sighthounds. Surprisingly also no border collie or Malinois.

Very inaccurate for me. But that is perhaps because I answered as wanting higher energy than your typical sighthound, but not wanting grooming (though in that case why did I get so many Spaniels?). Also weird that I wanted large breed and I got a lot f kind of small dogs (well, ok, medium... small to me!).

AP:

Aussie 99% - love them, will almost certainly own, I just wish they didn't bark so much
Brittany 99% - duh :) absolutely yes!
Toller 99% - I really like them... I want to meet more but I'm pretty sure I'd have one
Tervuren 98% - I like Tervs a lot and have definitely considered them. Probably not for a while but they're a possibility.
English Springer Spaniel 98% - I do like springers a lot. I'm really picky about how they look, and it seems like finding a good breeder is hard, but I'd take the right adult rescue for sure
Field Spaniel 98% - Based on what I've read, I'd have one. Not sure I'll ever seek one out, but they seem like a pretty good fit.
Golden Retriever 98% - Temperament-wise I would *love* a bench bred golden, but the health puts me off.
Havanese 98% - Seem like nice dogs, but no interest in owning one personally
Lab 98% - Occasionally meet a lab I REALLY like but overall, eh, not my thing.

Dogtime:

Doberman - I really like them but don't like the health issues. They're a decent match for me though.
Portuguese Water Dog - Not for me. They're okay but I don't want one.
Curly Coat - I'd consider one. I've looked into them a bit and like what I've read about them.
English Cocker - Love but I'd only want a field bred dog. Not a fan of how the show dogs are bred to look.
English Springer - Apparently I should own a springer.

SS:

Toller 100% - I guess I should have a Toller, too!
Pointer 97% - Not interested. I'm indifferent to them.
Cocker Spaniel 92% - Not big on American Cockers
English Setter 92% - I've looked into them, they seem nice, but they don't excite me, if that makes sense?
Sussex Spaniel 92% - No.
GSD 90% - Yes please! Love. Someday.

They definitely pegged my general type pretty well! I think they redid the AP one, because I take it semi-regularly for fun, and I've never gotten a Toller before.

Animal Planet:
Australian Cattle Dog- 100% I have one and love them! My favorite breed hands down and one of the best matches for me.
Border Collie- 100% Another great breed for me. Definitely will have one in the future.
Belgian Tervuren- 99% A distinct possibility, but I would rather have a Malinois.
German Wirehaired Pointer- 99% I don't know too much about these guys, but probably not.
Australian Shepherd- 98% I don't think so. They are not my favorites, but I have met a few wonderful Aussies.

Dog Time:
Flat-Coated Retriever- I don't know much about these guys either, but probably not going to happen.
German Shorthaired Pointer- Probably my favorite sporting breed. I have met quite a few with great temperaments. I think they are great dogs, so it is a possibility. And the speckles!
German Wirehaired Pointer- Maybe it is meant to be?
Golden Retriever- Absolutely not. Never in a million years would I even consider one.
Irish Water Spaniel- Even if they were a good match for me (which I am pretty sure they are not), I would never be able to get past the rat tail.

Select Smart:
German Pinscher- 100% I don't know. Probably never going to own one.
Australian Shepherd- 99% Again, probably not for me.
Pyrenean Shepherd- 98% Never met one before, but have heard they are cool dogs. Maybe a little too small (and shaggy) for my liking.
German Shorthaired Pointer- 95% Love these guys. If I ever were to own a sporting dog, it would probably be a GSP.
Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever- 94% I really like these guys as well. They are up there on my sporting dogs list with the GSP.

I guess the quizzes did an ok job, but I only got breeds that are best for me on the AP one. They seem to think that a sporting dog would be best for me, but I'm not sure. There are a few breeds I like, but definitely prefer herders over sporting dogs.
