No problems here, unless my mom is in the room. Then Gavroche throws a fit. As soon as she leaves he's perfect.

Luna hates it, clipping and dremmeling both. I've clipped nails on literally hundreds of dogs, and she's by far the worst one I've ever done. After seven years of working on it, she'll tolerate dremmeling, but we still have to stop and have a "conversation" about halfway through... it goes along the lines of "We're DOING this, so suck it up and HOLD STILL." *click/treat* ;)

Keegan's great with the dremmel, though, it's something I've worked hard on with him since he was a baby. I used to dremmel twice a week, but then I was afraid his nails were literally too short, so I backed off to about once every week or two. He doesn't LOVE it, but he tolerates it fine and his nails look awesome. :)

WE only attempted to trim Ruby's nails once and she fought a lot and we probably quicked her... never got her used to it. thankfully, her nails stay ground from our morning walks out on the sidewalk. We had her dew claws removed (as an adult, poor baby) because she used her front feet like hands and ripped 2 off within a year and was a big baby about it - I predicted it would happen a lot more so we opted for removal. I do have a pedi paws but have never tried it because her nails stay so nicely ground down.

I dremel and both let me do them. They don't enjoy it, they struggle, but no so bad that I need two people. I do have someone hold Lizzie's stomach and raise her up these last two times I've done her because it seemed like she was having a harder time with allowing me to bend/mess with her back legs.

Juno, absolutely. She sees me with the clipper and knows to roll on her side lol. And then she just lays there quietly.

Lucy... eh. She "lets" me as in, she's not going to bite me and it is something I can do on my own. But I have to actually position myself to be able to hold her down with my forearms and still able to actually cut her nails. And then there's a lot of "Lucy! Knock it off!" when she starts getting squirmy. It's really not as bad as it sounds though lol.

Schaffer's fine with it. He groans a lot and his nails are gigantic and kind of hard to cut, but we've never had a problem. Even when he tore the nail off of the quick when digging and the nail had to be removed and the quick wrapped up.

Kailey needs someone to hold her in their lap and calm her down as someone else goes about cutting the nails.

I voted "other".

Jack normally gets his nails trimmed/dremeled when he goes to the groomer, and very rarely needs it done at home. When I do it, it takes a lot of treats, but we get them done.

We can do Missy's, but it's a three-person job. She does NOT like having her nails trimmed whatsoever.

I can do all three of mine by myself but Steve is a HUGE drama queen about it. I do all of the dogs with them lying on their backs, and when I ask him to lie down, he has to growl and bark and show me his teeth and all kinds of nonsense. But he's totally cooperative once he's down.

I sort of set Millie up for failure, because I never really did anything with her nails for her first year of life [except paint them. . .hey, I was 10!], and after that it was seldom because she struggled. And she struggled because she wasn't used to it, and didn't like having her feet touched at all. The nasty circle and all that.
I just finished clipping Millie's nails literally minutes ago, and although she was tense, she let me do it as fast as possible and there was no problem. It's taken many months of intense work teaching her nail clipping does not mean she's getting killed, but we've made a lot of progress.
She's about the same with the dremel as with clippers.

I can clip Sawyer's nails by myself with no issue and we're working on getting to like the dremel. Basically I just another person shoveling him treats and we're good.

We're trying to hit the happy medium between him not tearing up the floors and still having traction during hikes.

I've never in his six years clipped his nails. They always stay short and pretty.

I couldn't really vote accurately. None of my dogs enjoy having their nails done, and they all kick and fidget a bit (or in Dance's case, a lot), but I manage to do them by myself relatively quickly. We've got a system down! I can't do them easily if there is another person helping/holding the dog. I'm too afraid I'll get them with the dremel. The Dobermans are pretty good though. They lay flat nicely, but just jerk their feet around a little as I'm doing their nails. Dance is harder and more awkward. She's so squirmy.

I said other.

Nail clippings stress Rosey to the max. So the vet does them when they visibly start to bother her. Elsewise, we figure at her age it's not worth the stress.

None of my dogs liked it at the start, but now they are more than happy to have it done. Infact, my hound who has a serious streak of mellowdrama needed alot of time to become comfortable with the process. Owning a dog shop, I see too many dogs who are very uncomfortable with their nails being handled. Many of these dogs are seniors who didn't need to have them clipped in their younger years because they kept them filed down naturally. I always urge those who don't need to do a regular nail maintenance to get their dogs used to it anyway. If a dog is desensitized while they are younger it will not be a stressful event when they are older.

Remember that a healthy nail length promotes a healthy bone structure in the paw and leg. If we neglect the nails we are putting undue stress on joints already compromised by age.

No problem with Quinn. She's really ticklish and sometimes her long foot hair gets caught in my shitty clippers but amazingly she rarely moves. I just ask her to lie down, gently ease her onto her side and she doesn't budge until I'm done. I worked with her a lot getting her comfortable with me touching her feet with her clippers, and then treating every time I would clip a toe, now I treat after every foot, roughly.

I picked "Yes but someone has to help me". Violet is no problem as long as someone's giving her a treat or something to eat, but if I try without it, she pulls her paws away over and over and it gets frustrating lol!

Chloe will 'let' me, but she will pull her paw away at times and I'm scared to do them (so I really only do them when I HAVE to) becaue her nails are black, and I've cliped her quik before.
