People often ask if Dance is a designer breed and if they don't believe me when I tell them she isn't, they insist on me telling them what breeds make up a Toller. Either that, or they think she's a really ugly Golden or a strange coloured Border Collie or Aussie. Lately though it seems more and more people have at least heard of the breed at one time or another and I get other ridiculous comments about her... like how she's not standard and should weigh 60lbs, for one. They talk to me like they know more about my breed than I do and don't listen otherwise.

Lol, I'd much rather have to repeat Papillon or Weimaraner than Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever constantly. Sometimes I try to get by that by just saying Toller, but then people seem to think I'm saying toilet for some reason, so I have no choice but to go with the actual breed name.
Nearly everyone I encounter knows what Pit is. Nobody really guesses if they're not sure. Saying the name once never gets through though, so repeating it every time is a hassle.

Funny that everyone thinks Pit is way too BIG to be a toller (42lbs).

I usually tell them that I don't believe "Puggles" should be bred
I tell people that too... when they ask what kind of designer dog popper is, i tell them he's a MUTT that was accidentally bred, but he's a beagle/red heeler. I then follow it up with how I would never purchase a mutt and brag about it while so many mutts are sitting in shelters.

Usually they stop talking to me after that. :D

Oh good, it isn't just me! I sometimes call Radar my North Carolina Minkling, but then people want to breed him so I've kind of stopped that.
Honestly, if you can't look at my boy and see he is neutered, you are way to stupid to breed anything.

BC seems to be a lot more aware of the breed than a lot of other provinces for some reason (there does seem to be a pretty large population of them over there, though). I remember when I took Tango there one year, I never encountered even one person that didn't know what a Toller was. Here though... it's amazing how many don't have a clue.
