Do you walk your dogs regardless of the weather?

Sun/rain/snow/hail ect? Excluding storms, are you out their with your dog regardless of the weather? I will admit I wasn't the greatest dog owner before this year. I have picked up my slack but I was being lazy today. No morning walk for the boys today (Though they had a long play session). I felt guilty so I took them out for an hour and a half walk/off leash play time at the park and I was cursing under my breath the entire time. It had snowed so much today and it started raining really heavy (ice cold rain might I add) but I bit my tongue and did it for the dogs.

So what about you? Do you brave the weather for your pooches when you wouldn't go out usually?

During the summer they usually dont get that many walks because all 3 of our big dogs are heat sensative. Patches I geuss is obvious why LOL. Walker has a double coat and heats up really fast. Scirracco has no body fat really so he also get overheated extremely fast even though he has basically no fur to speak of. And in the rain they dont. But in the winter Walker gets at least one a day adn sometimes so does Scirracco. Hes not to big on walks to much anymore hed much rather go lay in the grass in the yard LOL. And Patches goes once a week because my bro cant get off his butt more then that. Plus right now itd be stupid for me to try walking her and Walker together. Because Walker and her both have high prey drives.

Depends. If it's pouring outside, no I don't take him on walks. I go out in the yard and play ball instead so I can huddle pathetically under an umbrella (I melt). If it's a light shower, we go, though.

Snow, we haven't had any yet, but sure. Sleet I don't think I'd take him out in, same for hail, or at least not for extended periods of time w/o a coat. That stuff hurts.

Bitterly cold? Sure. :D We get warm.

When it's too hot, though, no, we don't do much exercising at all during the daylight hours and don't go too far at night. My only option then is early morning walks, because neither of us take heat well.

Our dogs get walked no matter what, even in yesterday's ice storm. They like it and we like it so its fun for everyone. Yesterday's antics involved sliding around in the park, Nala learning to walk on ice, and Herschel chasing a frozen water bottle like a madman--all while freezing rain was falling. :)

I don't walk my dogs much at all, to be honest with you. Too many loose dogs, and the paved roads around here bother Loki's leg. They get their exercise out in the back yard for now. We're supposed to be moving to a rural setting soon, and they'll get more involved exercise there. I know there wont be any less loose dogs, but at least the road is dirt. :)

Sorry state here !!!! I've never walked my Ollie !!! My bad !!! I've had him over a year and he's great with me , but I'm afraid if we walk there could be a problem !! He has fun runs and is happy . One mishap could put Grammy in bad doo-doo ! I can walk him on leash in our yard with no problems or to vets .....but I hate to take a chance ...... aging sucks !!

Yep. But I try to work things so we're not going out in the most atrocious weather of the whole day. But they have raincoats, Marlowe has a sweater for the cold, I don't mind getting wet. Though sometimes I cut the walk shorter than if the weather was nicer.

I do have a rule for Conrad in the summer though: no walks over 85F or on ozone action days. He's a bit heat sensitive and has a heavy coat.

I don't take my dogs for exercise walks because we live on 15 acres, and they get plenty of exercise here. But I do go out with them at all times, even for potty walks. And I have to go out with them for that regardless of the weather.

I put it off today, I've been sick, in pain, and it has been raining sideways.

7am tomorrow morning though, unless I want my apartment chewed up while I'm taking 2 finals...

In the summer time, the pack is walked few times, but run on the millin the cool. As a matter of fact, I walked Lily just yesterday, It was raining and we were walking when we passed this older lady checking her mail. She asked us if we new if it was raining. I said "yes I know" she then proceeded to tell me it was considered cruelty to walk my dog in the rain. I told her that Lily loved the rain, and this was no worse then going to the dog beach. She told me she could call the SPCA on me, and I politely told her instead of wasting her time on me, call them on my neighbors who's dogs are tied up outside with NO shelter at all, and LILY was just fine. She then told me that dogs are our babies and need to be treated as such, I politely told her, No ma'am, dogs are our dogs and need to be treated as such and walked away. She cussed at me for a couple seconds then went back into her house. LOL!!! I could understand her being upset If I was DRAGGING lily behind me, forcing her to walk and she was soaking wet and shivering, but she was not, and she was just a little damp. People cease to amaze me. But getting back to your question, unless it is SUPER cold or SUPER hot, I do not go out, but unless it is extreme, the pack, (mostly Lily) goes out. Lily usually goes to the beach, dog park, mountains, countryside, city ect. for walks. She loves it and such shes such a high energy dog, she needs walks twice a day every day.

Today was the third day I missed taking Molly for a walk since I've owned her. We had quite a bit of snow - I need to get taller warm boots. I take her out in all kinds of weather normally as she loves being outside.

Lui gets walked in all weather, he handles it, and so do I, though one of us doesn't enjoy the rain we get here, who would that be? The only time I didn't walk him because of weather was one day when I'd just walked out the door with him, and it was kinda stormy, and then I saw some fork lightening, which we hardly ever get here, so I turned around and walked in, and he didn't protest!

She then told me that dogs are our babies and need to be treated as such, I politely told her, No ma'am, dogs are our dogs and need to be treated as such
What an idiot! Does she even have dogs? Or is she one of those people who thinks mini toy dogs have to be treated like babies with prams and blankets etc?

They way I look at it is that if they are willing I am willing. I may be cussing and complaining in my mind (Which I did do today) but the second we get to the park and they get off their leashes and they are happy it makes it worth it. Their recalls are so good now and I feel awful when they can't go outside. That's all they want to do. It's the highlight of their day.

If walking a dog in less then terrific weather is bad then shoot me. I shouldn't own dogs because I walk my dogs in some pretty craptastic weather.

Mine don't like outdoors if its raining. (It doesn't snow here), so we don't go anywhere during rainy days, we just huddle under a blanket and watch t.v.

I don't walk my dogs often. I play with them and make them exercise in the backyard, or at the dog park..and we go to pet stores, and friend's houses for play dates..but I don't have a routine where we go for an hour walk every morning.

When its too hot outside I won't take them out there, its too dangerous. When its really hot here the air quality is poor.

For the most part yea Blaze ges atleast a hour of offleash time either at the dog park or in the field by our house a day. I live in Canada, I know it gets cold here. so if I didnt want to do this i would have goen a less active breed. if I just feel terrible (as in sick) I will play in the back yard fetch and maybe just do a quick 15 min walk around the a couple blocks. If it is pouring rain we do a uick walk. and either go to my boyfriends so he can play with their dog or go to the petstore so he can choose a bone to chew on through out the day and atleast get out of the house. I feel terrible if I cant get him out atleast once a day
