Hillside.. ROFL! Good story.

And no, Pixie, I don't. I try to be polite, but when people are rude to me.. urrghhhh. And I admittedly am VERY snippy when people do thing after thing wrong. Last tiem I went to Walgreens the cashier was practically falling asleep... leaning on the register with his eyes closed... I brought my stuff.. he didn't give me discounts on the stuff I was supposed to get discounts on... I had to remind him three times to check the price on an item... urgh. I finally ended up only paying for one thing and getting the right discount on it and putting the rest of the stuff back. It was such a load of BS. I'm wondering if he was high, because he only grunted at me and didn't seem to notice how annoyed I was.

One of the most scandalous thing I've ever seen was at a mall food court...there was a older man clearing tables...when his back was turned these teenagers at a table unscrewed the salt...dumped it on the table...and took off laughing. He looked back and shook his head.

That day...I was in my barely 20's...I decided to ALWAYS look service folks in the eye and smile and say hello. They are INVISIBLE to some jerk-wads out there...but not to me.

LOL I remember when they raised the prices at Tim hortons....LOL people were so mad... for crying out loud they raised the price FIVE CENTS. lol But someone would always be like "Why did you raise your prices? I shouldn't have to pay 5 cents more. You should bring the price back down. Why would you do that?" My response was usually "I don't know sir... I just work here I don't own the place." lol LIke I personally raised the prices just to be a jerk lol

I think working in food service, retail, or the service industry should be mandatory. Work in one of those jobs for about 6 months, and you will learn a lot about how you should treat others... and about how you DESERVE to be treated.
I know some people are so rude and snotty because they've never had to work in anything like that environment (or, indeed, some have never had to really work at all)... it really does change your perception of things.

Beanie - You are so right Fast Food was my first job not the job I wanted and I am a hard worker I worked there for three years and im only 18 i recently quite because of my coworkers rudeness to me. So im looking for something more animal related or at least not fast food but your right it teaches you alot how people in the real world do not always work together or help one another. And I am all about team work

I'm usually never rude. If someone is rude or just plain bothered by my business, I'll get rude. Food messed up doesn't generally bother me, at all really. A couple of weeks ago we went to a restaurant and the waiter was just PLAIN RUDE. No greetings, smile, nothing. He didn't get a tip. Bartenders and I have gotten into it though. Once this lady made an extremely watered down Margarita and charged me $8.50. I asked her to redo it or give me another drink. She got attitude, I got a new drink (not much better) and she got no tip. I refuse to tip for bad service. I'm a great tipper too!

that was like a couple weeks ago. We went to Ruby Tuesdays. they seated us and this guy came o ver and took our drink order. Brought us our drinks and took our food order. He never came back to our table after that. We waited for almost an hour. he didn't come to check on us, our food never arrived, nothing. and I know he was still there because I saw him waiting on a table of about 10 people and he had no issue getting them their stuff and checking on them. We got up and walked out. We didn't pay for our drinks and CERTAINLY idn't leave a tip. We went to BK because we were starving. By the time we finished there we drove by rubys and our drinks were STILL on the table and no food.

Wow! They were still there? That's horrendous service! I would have requested a manager.

I've worked a number of retail jobs and so yes, I am as polite as I can be. Now, if something is rung up wrong or something like that and you get snotty with me when I try and nicely point that out, then I have no issue whipping out big words and asking for a manager. I've done the jobs, I know what they're like. I also know that it's much easier to stay nice and calm when resolving things instead of blowing up.

I loved it when I worked at the boarding resort...there were people who talked down to me all the time, so I would start talking over their heads and explaining simple things in complicated terms and throw in some reference to my college days, just to make them feel like an ass.

No I dont. I work customer service. in a tax office. You can imagine how extreamly rude people can get in there, and to be honest if they start to snap on me becuase they walked in, seen 12 people in line ahead of them, also with no appointmen> And then snap when i say it will be roughly a 2 hour wait, well sorry you didnt make a appointment, sorry you just showed uo and sorry it is so busy. i get mad at people like that. Really it is not my fault it is so busy, nor is it the tax prepareers either. But people get sooo madoh well to bad so sad. Sorry ranted a bit there becuase of today lol.

But the one thing I LOVE about working the front desk is I get to talk to people all day. And try and keep them happy by chit chatting. A lady that was in yesterday went up to my manager and even said that I was a great help while she waited (1.5 hours) in the office to be seen. we just chit chatted about anything and everything.

So no i would never talk down to any one. I get it alot, and I do not enjoy it.

I also find that people who are higher up then you seem to talk down to you alot. there is a new tax girl in the office. I honestly would love to slap lol. Sh eis the rudest person, and acts like I am her slave. My job is not to go to the printer every time you print somthing. In the office we all work as a team garbage on the floor= pick it up, some one printed somthing and you are there pick it up- phone is ringing and I can not get to it - pick it up ect

Having been in many walks of life , I've been viewed from both ends and have seen both ends . I just try to treat people as I'd like to be treated in the same situation . I do hate holier than thou attitudes !!! My in laws came up from poorer than dirt and when wealthy had horrible attitudes !!! My own family was mixed .... both were from very comfortable homes , but their best friends were of meager means ..... My Dad could talk for hours with tradesmen !!! I take after him ! My yard " person " loves to do my yard ( I almost wrote " do me " LOL ! ) late afternoon and after wiping his brow , sit on my patio with a ciggy and ask for a glass of wine . He's about 65 , and is a great artist in copper .....so interesting !

I always talk down to MDs :D Most of them are incredibly obtuse. Besides, they need to learn what it feels like since they are the world's worst for doing it . . . second only to their wives.
hahahha, its funny you say that...cause I totally do too. Seriously.

Most people have my respect initially (although they can quickly lose it...)...MDs however need to earn it from the start. I cant stand the superiority complex they have, and how freaking close minded they can be. I like to tell them about my own 'alternative' and holistic treatments just to tick them off! :D

I always treat the person I am addressing with the same respect (or lack there of) that they show me.

I am known at work as "Little miss sunshine" because I talk and laugh with EVERYONE, I don't care if they are the custodians, factory personnel, the shipping department, or the president of the company :) I can find SOMETHING to talk to them about :D

There are 'certain' people in the office that view themselves above other employees and speak only on a 'need to' basis. I find that rather odd.
same here--I assume good of everyone until they demonstrate differently. However, I will say I have grown VERY tired of people who don't even try to help you out--like in a store, and you want a specific item--and it's not there on the shelf. when I ask, people look at me like I have two heads if I ask them to see if there are any available (stock room, another store, etc.)--I made the trip to buy something--I would think they would want to sell something! I worked retail--I know you can check on these things!

A lot of places can only put a certain amount of booze in a drink. At my casino our liquor is metered out by the Berg System. (Electric pours) It doesn't excuse her attitiude though.
