Everything we eat at home is 'shared' - meat, vegetables, fruit, candy (she spits out most fruit and all candy, but she wants it), pastries, etc. She gnaws watermelon, inhales cheese and wrinkles her nose at mustard. She doesn't eat kibble till 9pm, when the chances of scoring 'people' food are low and she resignedly fills up on her own food.

I boil a whole raw chicken in water till it's cooked (takes nearly 2 hrs) once a week, i give Gus the stock over his dry dog food (he wolfs it down too quickly otherwise!) and he gets the chicken meat (not bones!!!) as treats.

THAT IS EXCATLY WHAT I DO!! (except i do not always do just a whole chicken. I look for chicken on sale. many times i get chicken quaters for cheap)

AT least I am not the only one!
