OMG lol i got my first smartphone like, 5 yrs ago & i have never looked back, i will never have a 'regular' type of phone again, i like totally hate them now.

you can pick up a smartphone pretty cheap if you go with your yearly upgrade like i do (thats how i got my iPhone 4, cuz they were coming out with the 4"$"... as i like to call it LOL) the only thing that was different was that ir had a more powerful processor & a better camera, but i heard they were pretty buggy so i went with the 4 & love it, i was going to get a galaxy but its android which i have never gotten along with. Not to mention that i will have to sync my laptop's wireless hotspot thingy all over again... not really interested in doing that with an android phone which I'm sure will be complicated LOL

It's not the phone that costs a lot of money, it's the data plans/internet. I don't pay for any of that right now and I don't really want to.

Yes, exactly. Also, I know myself well enough to know that there is a real danger of me becoming one of those phone addicts and I'd like to put that temptation off as long as possible. When all your phone really does is make calls and text, it's not really a concern. :p

Laurelin what cell provider do you use?

I know with T-Mobile I got down to $30-$40 a month unlimited everything just because I had been with them for 6 years.

I still haven't even bought my first smartphone so... no. didn't get an iphone 5. I really don't get the whole 'upgrade at the first day it's out' thing. I think I am too thrifty.
If I had the 4 or 4s I wouldn't have upgraded... but my upgrade was available so it was the same price as it would be in 6 months from now. Our local AT&T store had them available so we took advantage of that.

I know people who are paying full price for these phones ($650 for the 16gb!!!)- I could never imagine doing that! That would mean they already have the 4s, probably, which isn't a big enough difference to upgrade in my opinion!

I have the smallest data plan since I'm usually on wifi and never go over on my data usage- I think it's an additional $15 a month for the data plan I have. Our phone bill is $30 higher with 2 smart phones vs. normal phones.
