Guess I'm completely confused as to why someone with a dog at this level would have their dog shown in obvious pain, making their dog look bad, making themselves look like complete jackasses, and making the handler look bad (as far as I'm concerned though, the handler should have refused to show the dog in that condition).

I'm trying to decide how I feel about the Best of Breed Border Collie.

On the one hand, she does look a LOT like Sadie structurally. On the other hand, I wouldn't have expected Sadie to ever win Best of Breed at Crufts. LOL.

The bitch above is nice, pretty typey, lovely mover (except the dead tail, yuck)... but honestly I think there were nicer dogs! LOL! I almost feel dirty for saying it as she IS a lot like Sadie... but if anything I think Sadie has a better front and head *hides*. The good thing though, is, that the bitch judge is our Nationals judge this year I'm hopeful that this means she will like Sadie.

Not sure where the Groenendael was in the group judging, didnt turn up.

Aussie takes pastoral :)
They showed up! At the VERY end of the line and the very last minute.
And as long as we're talking about our breeds, did NOT like the Pem! WAY to freaking short on leg and fat. The Pem I saw yesterday at our local match show with rear as strait as a Chow's looked nicer, what is it with these European Pems being so FAT anyway? It's obviously genetic just look at Jinj. I mean, love the head piece on the Pem in the ring, but what's a nice head without a sound body to stand on?

It's not a handler, it's the dog's owner. Handlers are not the norm in the UK, at least not in Staffords. Occasionally, someone may show a dog for someone else as a favor, but they aren't paid for it.

The owner is himself a champ show judge, so he does indeed make himself look very bad.

Ah, I see. Not at all familiar with the norm in the UK, so interesting to know. That's a definite shame.
