I personally love dogs the way they are born , but know many breeders and show people will be upset . Nothing is more beautiful than a Dobe with pointy ears and a wagging stub . But I love natural ears and tails .

She does point out the right things, but I wonder at her insistence at name-calling. It takes away from the professionalism that the pro-C/D side needs to maintain.

It was posted here ~ http://www.chazhound.com/forums/t97046/

Also, this bill has not passed. It is still in the NYS Assembly Committee on Agriculture. There also is no Senate equivalent.

There are four weeks left to the 2009 regular session, so it looks like this bill is unlikely to pass.

That article in the dog press was premature and VERY DAMAGING to the effort to defeat this bill.

A retraction/correction has been demanded.

Dear Editor,
Your information on the docking legislation in NY is false. The bill you mention, Assembly 7218 has not passed and it is very unlikely to pass due to the fabulous collaborative efforts of AKC, the various kennel clubs in the state and other organizations such as NAIA Trust. This article is very harmful because it is not only inaccurate, it paints a disparaging picture of all the diligent parties that have worked together to defeat this legislation. Please issue a correction.

what ever happened to LIVE AND LET LIVE!?

nobody is forcing anyone to crop or dock their dogs! so why is forcing people NOT TO any diffrent?

as long as it is done HUMANELY and proper care is given then I believe people should have the right to choose.

I also love natural ears, but thats MY CHOICE and same as i appreciate my right to choose, I respect other peoples right to choose.

I'm really suprised that article was published without checking the facts. I don't even own breeds who are cropped or docked but I found it highly disturbing. It starts with just one bill being passed and then you get the snowball effect. I really do hope this bill is derailed. I really do.

i would imagine that a lot of people behind these bills don't believe that it can be done humanely.
ALOT of people, and money, behind these bills belive it inhumane or unethical to even keep a dog or cat as a pet.

Beliefs are one of those funny things that people use as factual evidence, yet very few of them can actualy be proved with unbias emperical evidence.

The legislating and outlawing of docking and cropping is just one more way for them to put restrictions on breeders, and play into the hands of those who want to eliminate companion animals, and ESPECIALLY want to eliminate the breeding of pure bred dogs/animals as a hobby.

These people, H$U$ and Peta, etc, want to ELIMINATE ALL USE OF ANIMALS FOR ANY PURPOSE BY HUMANS. If you do not realize that is their goal, then you need to know that.

No dogs, no cats, no horses. No meat, eggs, milk, cheese or butter. No leather, no wool.

This is the true agenda. We need to get united and get strong against them. Check what is going on in YOUR STATE or area NOW. Get involved. Have your say. If you don't, we will lose. We are way behind already.
