Hi,
I have a question about house breaking/ crate training my 10 week old australian shepherd puppy. He has been doing very well with it, making it 8 or 9 hours at night most nights without going in his crate but we are having a problem with him having accidents after drinking water.
I have read that you should ration how much water they get during the beginning of house breaking to reduce the number of accidents. He has been getting all he wants with his meals (twice a day) and then a few short sips here and there throughout the day when we take him out. I dont feel like I should cut him back anymore than that because he does spend a good deal of time outdoors in his crate (in the shade with a box fan blowing on him). However, It seems like everytime he has a big sip of water, if we dont take him out within 30 minutes or so, he will pee in his crate.
Any advice on helping him to hold it longer? It seems like if he can go 8 hours at night, he should be able to hold it a little longer than 30 minutes after drinking water. Thanks for any advice!!
