This just came through my Elkhound list:

Hi everyone, I just received an email from a friend of
mine in NJ. Pls read the following email she sent. I
also just talked to her and the police were called and
they are busy getting word and flyers out.

Please get the word out that 2 of my corgis were
stolen at dog shows in new jersey -Sat march 22, We
stopped at Harlds deli in Edison NJ to get something
to eat and my 2 pembroke welsh corgis were stolen out
of my vehicle- Daddy warbucks is a R/W male and micro
chipped and Sammy is a R/W female and not chipped yet.
- please pass the word and have some one call me if
you know anything.

She also had a sheltie in the vehicle as well that was
not taken.

Yikes!! I'll keep my eyes open for anyone with corgis. I'm in MD right now and gonna be driving up thru NJ today - with my two red and white corgis. I hope the police don't try to arrest me. :yikes:

Are there pictures of them available? Markings to look for?

That's all the info I have. I swear, this state has a curse on show dogs. A couple of years ago a Golden took off from the same show (either escaped from it's crate or someone let it out, can't remember), and just a few months ago, a Mastiff was taken out of it's crate (in the back of a Surburban) in a hotel parking lot. I don't remember hearing any updates on the Golden, but the Mastiff was found within a couple of days.

So, where ya headed that you're coming through Jersey? :lol-sign:

I hear way too many stories like this, which is why I only ever take one dog with me and don't go anywhere my dog can't go and they stay by my side 100% of the time.

Heading home. Been in SC.

I was just thinking about the mastiff. Makes me think twice about taking my dogs to shows in the area.
Soon after I read on a Lab board about Labs being stolen out west 9some right out of yards), I saw in the paper that one was taken out of the front of a pickup about a half hour from here. I now have a padlock for my wire crate (for the days Caleb visits school when I'm done work). I was going to put one on the Vari Kennel, too. Then I remembered that our new (to us) Escape has an alarm that I can set when I take him anyplace in that.

Yea, I have thought about putting a lock on the varikennels, but I don't know how to configure it. Any suggestions there?

I was going to drill a hole in the part that overhangs the door, and use a lock with a long "shank" or whatever you call them (I have one like that for my wire crate). I might still do that.

ahhh!! Very clever. I couldn't think of anything other than running a chain around the door and through the vent holes on the side, which wouldn't be safe.

You know the world is in bad shape when we have to put alarms and locks on our pups :(

I hope they are found and returned ASAP!

Wow, I hope they can find out who the dognapper is and teach her a thing or two... the important thing is that they're found now and they're safe. My heart goes out to the owners for this whole ordeal they've had to go through these past few days.

oh good.

Makes you wonder, what sort of person steals 2 dogs, then dumps them after 5 days? :( sad world.
I was so scared they'd end up being used for mass breeding off some sort, I could just see the adverts

"pure corgi's, both parents prize winning show dogs..."

So glad they're safe now.

I've never thought of having a dog stolen out of a car, I don't worry so much with Buster being a little ACD mix and I don't see him going easy if someone tried to take him. But still scary.

Ya, I've actually had someone come up to me and ask to pay big money for Bamm. I asked him why and he said it was because my dog was so unique looking. Bear in mind Bamm was cowering at this point and starting to growl a low growl. I told the guy no and he offered even more money ($1000). I said again, he is not for sale, and walked off. Bamm isn't even purebred... why would he want him? And even so... I'm not getting rid of him and Bamm clearly didn't like this guy anyways, not that I would get rid of him if he liked him.

So glad to hear it, they all look very happy in the picture.

I don't get why someone would steal them and then dump them -- sounds like the mastiff was dumped also. I wonder if it was the same person...I hope the shelter got her name.
