We had a very very scary moment with Ben this morning. My mother and I go walking at 5.30 every morning. Mainly to avoid the heat and cars.
We were leaving this morning and the dogs and us were standing on the pavement getting leashes on etc.
The next thing, a man with two off leash dogs, a Lab mix and a Ridgeback, came around the corner.
These two dogs spotted Ben and took off after him. :yikes:
There was no playful or mock intent in them either. They were out to kill him. He, very luckily, ran! My mother and I took off after the dogs yelling, my mother was getting her pepper spray out. Ben kept running in circles, evading the dogs, the Lab managed to grab a mouthful of hair but Ben ripped out.
My father heard the commotion and opened the side gate, Ben dashed inside and my fathers quick thinking kicked in and he planted his foot full force into the Labbies face. The dogs turned back and trotted off to their owner who just carried on his jog.
It scares me that I could very easily have lost my baby boy! Lesson learned, we will no longer get the dogs ready on the pavement. They will be leashed BEFORE we go outside. The thing is, we have NEVER encountered anyone out at that time of the morning.
I know where this man lives and I will be dropping by and speaking to him about his aggressive dogs being off leash.
