DH has his foreskin and I have my clitoral hood, and I fail to see how cleaning the clitoral hood region would be the same as the foreskin. The foreskin is much more of a "pocket" than the clitoral hood.
Not on all women. We don't all come in the same factory setting size. Same with the labia, inner and outer. It is very similar, especially when you see how many women go in for cosmetic surgery to reduce their high risks of UTIs, yeast infections, bacterial infections, so on so forth.

Um What?! I had a ton of UTIs as a kid and surgical alteration was NEVER on the table. I've never heard of anyone going in for modification in that region for anything except cosmetic reasons, not infection prevention!

Surgical alteration is an option for women with re-occurring infections, urinary and vaginal. It depends on the reason WHY the infections are re-occurring.

Some kids are just exceptionally filthy. In others, it can be helped with some alteration. And it's suggested more than you think in adult women who have been living with that struggle for ages.

And some women go in for cosmetic procedure because they want to beautify their droopy labia, in such cases a good psychotherapist would be more appropriate than a surgeon. We all age, and you come to appreciate as you get older that as long as everything still works the way it's supposed to, that droopy don't matter so much really...

Key phrase. Some women are simply more prone to UTIs or vaginal infections, due to the way they are built. If this could be noticed at time of birth and corrected to lessen the risks....why not?

Apparently that's what we've been doing to the guys all this time. Cleanliness and all.

Well I haven't cleaned the crotches of all women, just my own, so I can only speak to that point. I also have never, ever heard of vaginal surgery for infection prevention, and I know several women well who get UTIs very easily.

After reading this thread I asked DH (who is intact) what he would want to do if we ever had a boy and he didn't really have a strong opinion either way.

You know, my SIL had her sons circumcised. She also was at least a pack a day smoker during all 3 pregnancies, and constantly smokes around her kids (and chain smokes in the car). Her sons are FAR more likely to have health issues due to that decision than the one to circumcise.

I have to bring this up because it really hasnt been talked about....everyone ok with circing, you do realize that death is a possible outcome? (albeit rare). I am NOT saying that anyone should base their decision only on this. I also realize there are risks is EVERYTHING...I mean just putting the kids in the car is probably one of the biggest risks you can take. But for those on the fence, or who are kind of open to either way, would you be ok with the outcome of death or severe complications?

And again, I am NOT saying anyone who has circed or will is ok with their baby dying, just want to clear that up. I have several close friends who have circed, I know they love their children with all their heart.

As you've pointed out, there are risks no matter which way you go. Babies/children have died from immunizations..........they have also died from NOT having immunizations :( If the government should make it mandatory to immunize and my (or your) child dies from it, how many tears are THEY going to shed? How long are THEY going to remember the child? It's a statistic for them, they jot it down somewhere and move on and as long as the numbers stay in a certain range, it's all good to them. Therefore, they should not be part of certain decisions.

(my kids were all immunized btw, but there are those who choose not to.....just using that as an example)

As Mia pointed out, parents have to make tough choices each and every day. We have to live with those choices, as do our children.

Yes, I think that most people realize that death is a possibility during any medical procedure of that kind. Do you really think that any parent would be "OK" with an outcome of death under any circumstance?

However, death is pretty much a possible outcome of most things that kids do. It comes down to the weighing of risks vs. benefits. A child is much more likely to die in a car accident or drown than die due to circumcision.

Right, risk vs benefit. I was asking for those who are not seeing a benefit but are on the fence because of perceived societal norms. I wasnt really expecting an answer, but more something to think about. I do know multiple people who really were unaware of the possible complications including death and who that wouldve made a difference for.

And ftr, I don't really think you're a troll. But you do tend to ask things or make your point in a very abrasive manner. Even when I think you have a point I'm sometimes put off by the way things are worded.
LOL... honestly, I think that's because he's a dude! We're so used to other women's posts that it's easy to feel like the one guy here is abrasive. When in reality, my BF would be sooo much more annoying & rude if he was a Chaz member. ^_ ~ He would be banned instantaneously. Blue has a similar blunt, abrasive character to his responses. But both of them are pretty hilarious most of the time! You have to love them. And Sevensins seems to have actual knowledge behind his opinions, which is always nice. :)

Sevensins has definitely tried to make me feel like a dummy, but I don't take it personally. There's a big difference between being blunt or sarcastic to get the point across because you're passionate about the subject, rather than just being a troll for the sake of being a troll.

^^ Your hubby is actually very well behaved for a dude, Sparks! Lucky you. ;)

Would you have preferred I phrase the question this way? "Does your pussy smell like rancid fish because you haven't had your beef curtains hacked off and you're too stupid to know how to bathe yourself?" Because THAT would have been rude and offensive. Do you see the difference? Makes my original question pretty seem damned politely worded, doesn't it?
OMG I LMAO'ed... :,)

Really, I know you're too manly to say it, but I DO think that you're a bit offended by the repeated assumption that a foreskin - the way a human male is born - makes you unclean. I would be too! And your comparison was absolutely warranted, as both girls and boys need their genitals to be kept clean and both baby boys and baby girls in this world are circumcised. Honestly, vaginas are WAY more complicated to clean, with their inside/outside parts and pH and whatnot, than a little foreskin.

My British friend thinks circumcision is horrifying, like we think about female circumcision in this country. It's weird how one thing is ok but the other isn't. Double standards & social norms are weird.
