But....... Its not down to hygiene, its down to the length of the urethra. I've never met a man with a uti.
Seriously? Google it........it's a common problem. Maybe you've just never met a man who mentions they have a UTI, LOL, not very sexy talk I would think, hahaha

I will agree about the length of the urethra, again proving my point that male vs female circumcision is not discussing the same parts ;)
FTR, I never said I was against female circumcision, but of course that would be as a BABY.......ddefinitely don't want mine circ'ed NOW  :lol-sign:

On the issue of hygiene and comparing men/woman...........I would remind everyone that woman WIPE after every trip to the bathroom, at least the woman I know. Many of us even use a moist towelette or baby wipe after as well (as mentioned in another thread not long ago, LOL)

On the flip side, men I know shake unless it's a number 2. So imagine just for a moment ladies that you pee and give yourself a good shake, pull up your pants and call it good! Think of all the lovely infections you'd have after doing that for a while........
Because apparently all women live nice cushy lives where there is indoor plumbing and toilet paper. Nobody ever hung an old phone book in an outhouse or used the sears catalogue, or *gasp* drip dried for #1

Not to mention there was of course toilet paper in thousands of years ago when religious leaders decided men needed to be circumcised in order to be clean.

Sigh....

Of course...........and woman were considered quite disposable in those days. Who cared if they got infections or were in pain, died in child birth and any number of things. But if we CAN do better, I'm of the opinion we SHOULD do better.........whatever you personally think better is :)

I have never said the ONLY WAY to keep a clean weenie is to circ it, but after being the oldest of 5 kids (with 2 brothers) raising 5 kids (3 boys) and caring for countless others, MY OPINION is that a circ'ed penis is easier to care for in a baby, toddler, and young boy who's learning to care for himself.

If your opinion differs fine, raise your child however you like. I would not attempt to make circumcisions MANDATORY, and on the same vein, I don't think they should be illegal.

Also, I don't get the *sigh* thing.....

I'm genuinely interested, how do you, specifically, care for an uncircumcised penis in a baby or toddler? How did it differ from caring for a circumcised child's?

I was wondering this too...I only have experience caring for an intact penis and I have done nothing "different". No extra steps or cleaning. Even with the messiest of diaper changes, you just wipe or maybe plop in the bath lol, same as any other baby (and yes, girls are much harder to clean).

I have a couple friends who have one son circed and then regretted it and left others intact...they have said too there is no difference.

Toilet paper and circumcision are not my idea of “doing betterâ€. Nor do I think either has done anything tremendously beneficial for changing the status of how women are considered.

The thing is routine infant circumcision USED to be considered "better" and was recommended by medical associations for both sexes to keep "clean" - again, meant morally clean. It is no longer recommended by any medical associations so doing better would be to NOT take an important functioning piece of the sexual organ.

I can think of a procedure that's far more mutilating to the bodies of baby boys, and not only is it perfectly legal, many who fight against circumcision fight for this procedure to remain legal and easily obtainable.

You don't want to be judged? Then stop judging others for a much lesser offense.

Sigh, no one is JUDGING a person, we are discussing the procedure.

And yes, I support the woman's right to choose medical procedures for HER body which during pregnancy, yep, part of her body.

Just because there are worse procedures out there doesn't make circumcision any less mutilating. That's like saying it's okay to smoke a pack of cigarettes a day, because hey, at least it's not crystal meth.

What is the difference between peeing while circ'd and not? You can fold the skin up before the shake, and then voila- same as peeing while circ'd.

I agree about girls being harder to clean........mentioned that a few posts ago. That is the issue I have with foreskin too, more skin with hiding places for gunk to clean (as with girls). mission impossible? nah, just less time and easier NOT to as I've mentioned. Also eaiser for a little boy learning to clean himself, not the hardest thing they'll learn.....just easier. I recall my kids yelling for wiping help when they were 4 years old, I don't know how old your kids are but BLAH! LOL

As for your friends...........ISN'T IT WONDERFUL THEY HAD A CHOICE?

Toilet paper and circumcision are not my idea of “doing betterâ€. Nor do I think either has done anything tremendously beneficial for changing the status of how women are considered.
 Uh, I think you might have missed the point of my words? I don't think toilette paper has changed the status of woman either :rofl1:

What I meant was, indoor plumbing, toilette paper, etc are an IMPROVEMENT (IMO) and if you CAN use them, do so. I didn't wear bike helmets or have to be in a seat belt/car seat growing up.......should I not use them now? I feel cutting off a bit of skin makes life easier and possibly more worry free so that is why I chose the way I did, but again I'll say:

If your (general you) opinion differs, go for it! I wouldn't stop your choice of being able to keep your son's foreskin intact, and you (general you) shouldn't stop my choice of getting rid of it.

Same as cropped ears, docked tails, and even abortion. (among many other things) Each person has to live this life with the choices they make, and yes, some are made for us before we are of the majority, immunizations being just one of many. Some people feel immunizations do more harm than good.......maybe even cancer causing later in life, but parents have to make that choice.

Some things are nobody's business to mandate 'cause nobody loves and cares for YOUR child like YOU do *shrugs*

it's great to have opinions even when they differ. What I'm not ok with is having more legislation. think it's wrong, think it's right... I don't really care but I don't want the government to get to decide for us.

Oy, that opening the freedom of choice can of worms is going to cause a nuclear reaction...I surrender...well no actually I usedta help out at Planned Parenthood so it is in fact something I feel strongly about...but choice is personal, not something to be debated

I dont like more legislation either....but I am ok with it in issues of human rights. Again, I dont know if this SHOULD be legislated but I see the appeal when its being done to half of the baby boys born in this country.

This is the crux of the argument...I am in NO way in favor of stopping a man from getting a circumcision...you are correct, HIS choice.....but NOT his parent's choice.
