How much does it cost to license a dog in your area? Is there a lower fee if your dog is spayed/neutered?

In New York, the state license fee for a S/N dog is $2.50. For an unaltered dog, it cost $10.50, with $3.00 of this fee being used to fund the NYS Animal Population Control Program.

I think the difference in the fees encourages the general public to spay and neuter their dogs.

Anyone else?

I'm in NY City. Here it's $8.50 for an altered dog, $11.50 unaltered. Not a big difference, but I'm glad it's something!

My goodness, how cheap it is compared to where I'm at!! We would have to pay $70/unneutered dog, and $19/neutered one. I guess they figured it's a good way to encourage people to neuter their pets.

Edit: I live in Orange County, California.

We have different prices too.
It was $6.00 for spayed/nuetered animals. Think it was 20 was those animals who weren't fixed

I live in Ontario, But the city Im in its a one time fee of $40.00 if the dog is fixed and microchipped, and then then prices that vary I think between $20-$50 depending if the dog is fixed or just microchipped or unaltered but thats payed every year. That why I made sure my dog was chipped and neutered before I got him licensed, made more sense.

In Pierce County the license fee for adult dogs that have been spayed or neutered is $20. For adult dogs that have not been spayed or neutered, the fee is $55.

I am in Chengdu, China, it's free to license a dog in my city, but only spayed/neutered dogs can join the examination of a potential Dr. Dog,which is a proud thing for a family here.

It is $12.00 for a S/N dog here where I live and $25.00 for an unfixed dog. However, they don't push people to license there dogs so I never had in all the years we have owned.*shrugs*

The other day someone knocked on my boyfriend's condo door. It was apparently someone from the animal shelter. They asked if they had any animals in the house, and obviously the two cats were right there checking out what was going on. The cats are speutered and microchipped. The person at the door made my boyfriend pay $40 ($20 each cat) to get them licensed right there on the spot. He was pissed, the cats never leave the condo, ever!

Anyway, to join an animal event like a fundraising walk, you have to have your dog licensed here. I think it's $40 if they're unaltered and $20 if they're fixed. That's a yearly fee. If you pay for two years up front, it's $62/$30. I'm shocked to hear how cheap it is elsewhere!

I paid for a provisional license for my puppy, $10 to have a 6-month license, then when he's fixed you can buy the regular license.

Why so much cheaper in the city??? Doesn't make sense! $8.50/$11.50 is so low in comparison to all of you. Actually, maybe it does make sense. Maybe they figure that if it's cheap, everyone will do it...

here it's like $6 for speutered and $8 for intact, which is pathetic. i wish they'd really kick up the price to license intact dogs. i also wish they'd actually enforce licensing.
