In the beginning, I was really pleased to find a site where I could get help through my grief over the loss of my babe, Sebastian. This is my first experience with a forum and until this week, I have enjoyed my time sifting through the threads. I've discovered new ways to train my pups, laughed at the humorous posts, and even posted pictures of my babes for all to see (quite unlike ME).

Now I am finding too many threads involving mean-spirited comments. It seems even the simplest questions and requests for others’ appreciation of the babes we bring into our lives are fodder for opinionated rants. While differences of opinion are what make discussions interesting, when does common courtesy come into play? It makes very little difference to “play nice” later in the thread. The words are already out there.

Except for an occasional “pop” into this forum to see if the “tide” has changed, I have decided forums are not for me after all. It takes a lot of courage for some to post “windows into their life”. I, for one, don’t wish to chance a “slap” in the “face”.

well.......you take the good with the bad sometimes. IF you are extremely sensitive, then a forum may not be for you. as far as Chaz...I find it wonderful. most members are terrific. YES, you get the occasional poster who wants to quibble...but who cares about them?!! people have opinions and here they are free to express them. NO...it won't be all roses...but again, IF you are tooooo sensitive, then so be it.

Just narrow your focus a little, if you open a thread and you don't like its tone close it and move on. Let others fight with each other and try to get what you can out of the more informational threads.

This place welcomes new members with a slap in the face (only if they have a mixed breed)... I was slapped a few times... If I'm not mistaken, you were slapped as well.... so was the new member just here to "show his puppy" and doesnt even breed them.... he got a big slap... then people apologized and slapped him again.... lol

I wouldn't take it personally. You're not alone. I get slammed quite a bit. We all see different things. It's not just you.

You've totally misunderstood what people here are trying to say. There is NO ONE on this forum that doesn't like mutts. I mean no one. I can't think of anyone ever making that comment on these forums. We all love dogs. Period.

The thing we don't like is backyard breeders and puppy mills that create more dogs that don't have much chance at a good life. If you had ever been involved with the care of animals in any form you would understand that.

 its people like you that make chaz look bad!! aren't you those people that breeds ''poos''. I think your the one with problems with mutts, why not understand that these dogs are MUTTS and all this fancy name nonsense, their no better than any other mutt just because they have a fancy name.

Sorry to break it to you, but just about all forums are like that. It's like real life - you take the good with the bad. If you are in a room with hundreds upon hundreds of people and voice your controversial opinion, you are going to get people who very strongly disagree, and those who very strongly agree.

I think something important to remember is that typed words often do not reflect what the person actually means. They are easy to mis-interpret. Often times people will make assumptions about something that somebody else types, and be offended by it when the other person meant no harm at all. Disagreements do not always mean insults.

If you are terribly afraid of somebody disagreeing with you, or if you take it personally, I agree that forums are not for you.

It's because the members here know what they are talking about that they are honest about it. But if you don't like it, you don't have to stay... Personally I'm glad people don't hesitate to tell you when they don't agree with you, and explain to you why. I much prefer that over hypocrits that say that everything is wonderful when really it isn't.

No one is excused because of their poor choices in posting... even Grammy had to take " time out " because she ranted a while back. Yes, we're passionate here because of our love for dogs .... all types and breeds. No, we don't like people who breed odities, but we welcome those who have one along with trying to educate them not to promote them. When someone new comes in with " here's my new " doggie-woggie " ,all excited and so proud of their new pup ... we should welcome THEM .... not put them down if they are new owners and didn't know better than buy from a BYB or a pet store. !! That's what Chaz is all about. We've got new members who have Goldens , ( my passion ) yet I don't head into the whens/how/ whys even though my gut feeling is they may have bought problems. Everyone who joins should have our support . If you really have a problem , PM them. Sorry, I rant so .... it's a Grammy thing !

Unfortunately, you wil find alot of forums like this one out there.

If you are interested, I am a member of a wonderful forum that DOES NOT allow harsh treatment to other members at all. We have our disagreements, but they are never more than that. People are very well mannered and when some may get out of hand, they are spoken to about it.. If you like you can email me(you can find that in my profile).

I'm sorry you are disappointed in the current "tone" of Chaz. Really and truely this is one the best dog forums you can find, and really, it's not all that snarky. I can give two URL's right now that are almost guaranteed to make you (using the general term here) cry if you post on there at all. Seriously. You think we're bad? Try having a discussion where it's ok to call someone a "f*****g idiot who should kill themselves before they contaminate the gene pool." or "a disgrace to the human race (loved that one... )

Really, Chaz is a bed of roses. Some hidden thorns, but mostly beauty.

That's the beauty of the internet, freewill, and Chazhound. If you don't like it or us, then leave. We're real here. And we are very opinionated, yet fair. If you don't like what you're hearing, then there's always the "close" button...

Hi Mutt Lover,
If you have any personal issues with Chazhound you can always PM me. I try to answer all. I don't really see any reason or logic in this post. You are painting over 230,000 posts on this forum with a broad brush.

I was bashed a long time ago when i very first joined. It was with my old sn before I lost my password and my computer took a crap. Yes it bugged me but it never made me want to leave for real. I am the kind of person who really doesent care what other people think about her.

I am the kind of person where im going to say what I want to say and if you take it the wrong way you take it the wrong way. Im opinionated and passionate about alot of things. But I also try and be nice and try and avoid debates and things like that. Though it is sad that some people tend to thrive on debates and fights on here.

I think you just eventually hit a happy medium here it just takes time.

Pixie... I agree. Once you get to know the new posters and the regulars , we're family. In every family there are times , we don't all agree ... but it's a growing up and learning process. To me, those who cop out here on us, will have a hard time in the real world. People have to learn to take the bitter with the sweet.... I know you have !
