Well if we are talking about ridiculous names then here's one....... My great grandad ALWAYS had an Airedale and every one of those Airedales was called....Wait for it......... Knobbler!! Now that is odd! Hee hee!

Riot - the name, IMO, inspires laughter...excitement...fun...a generally happy dog. am i right? does that sum up "Riots" attitude? if so, i think his name fits perfectly.

my first dog was named "Buffy the Golden One" lmao...he was golden colored cocker spaniel and we called him Buffy. his name fit his looks IMO.

my second dog was named "Bridger" because that's where my dad found him...under a bridge covered in ants :(

our current dogs (2 Labs) are "Black Tear of Cheyene" (aka Tira) and "Gunners Mate" (aka Gunner). why? because she's black, i enjoyed the native americans trail of tears journey (sad, but interesting) and i love the name cheyenne so we left out an "n" in her name. nickname is a combo of Tear and Of...Tira (pronounced tear-uh). our male is so named because tony was a Gunners Mate Second Class in the Navy. he's proud of his Naval history and what he did and we agreed we'd name our first male after his rank...also gunner happens to be living up to his name -big, strong and loves being Tira's "mate" lol.

*edited to explain "mate"...no they haven't mated, it's just my figure of speech for how they act now and will be in the future*

IMO "Timber" is a great name for a GSD...it just seems to fit so well.

my friend has a min pin named "Chloe Jane". poor dog was pup-napped, missing for days, animal control/local police/owners and family were looking for her, someone found her on the side of the road after she'd been thrown out of the window of a moving car. poor dog has a gimpy front leg cause the vet didn't even set it when they brought her in (it'll have to be rebroke in order for her to use it...and it almost has no feeling) and she hates when people snap their fingers at her or act like their going to pinch her. :( traumatized a lil...yeah!

wow, so what does it say that i call rah BUTTHEAD all the time :) hes an 11 month old adolescent male doberman- i think butthead is probably one of the NICER things i call him throughout the day.

i actually had people complain about what i called my newest dog (OohRah)...not that it matters. I think we will stick out in the ring no matter what - the name i call him is probably secondary :)

Frisbee- Lhasa-Apso (like that's not silly, but he was a great dog)

Elvis- Black lab/Irish Wolfhound mix

Sydney- Australian Cattle Dog (get it, lol)

Harry- Westie

Snowball- White GSD (I so did not pick that name, lol)

cool...OohRah...reminds me of "Mail Call" and Lee Ermie...very cool name.

btw, i had another dog (don't know how i forgot) a gsd/mix? that we called "damnit". i don't know how the name got started, but it was an easy way to cuss as a kid. "damnit eat your food!" lol

I don't think Pixie is a silly name, but I think of PixieStix and how they're all sugar and sweet and doggie Pixie seems the same.

I think of silly names like "Booger" "shitehead" as the dog's actual name, not what he gets called when misbehaving.

I thought I'd start a new thread as requested by others in the other thread I got this quote from that you said..

What do you think of Riots name then if you believe in the above? lol

Just curious :)
I don't think anyone is attempting to mock their dogs when they use funny names. They're trying to pick something cute. Like when people use cute nicknames on their young children. Dogs, after all... even adult dogs, are like children.

btw, did you all see where casablanca said that "a woman that named their child "paris" or "bubba" he would consider unfit (or some such verbage)? and that family traditions and family heritage is no reason for stupid names? geez, am i the only one offended by that??? :)

This thread stops now. It's nothing but gossip and bashing a certain member, which as all of you know is very much against the rules.

On a lighter note.. there was a known prostitute who named her dog " Tizz "... every time the dog was missing, she was arrested for wandering over her neighborhood calling out " Here tizz ". My Bubba was whelped during the NCAA 1/4 finals... Each pup was named after a team..Being an IU fan , I didn't want to call him IU... nor Bobby ( Knight) as my new son-in-law was Bob.... as he had a huge head , he ended up being Bubba.... his Mom was I.B. and one of the pups was " Duke " ... I asked his owner ( later ) how he registered the dog .... his answer was " I.B. Duke " !!!
