I just saw this thread, and I'm happy to hear that Brody is doing better! I hope that he can come home soon.

Last year my Madison gulped a piece of a Flossie, and we didn't realize it. A couple of days later he was having similar symptoms to your Brody... we brought him to the vet, and found out that it was stuck in his intestines. He was hooked up to an IV for a couple of days, and it was so scary.

:hail:praise the LORD!!! It is all out of him!!! They could not get him to eat so we had to bring in some Canidae he would not touch it at first but when we started hand feeding him he ate it. So he ate about a cup and a half. They want to make sure he can hold his food down. I doubt they are letting him come home today but if everything goes alright we can get him tomorrow. I have to call this evening to see what they are going to do. He looked really good and he has all his pep back and he was barking at all of them so I know he feels better. When we brought him in that morning he could hardly walk and he usually acts up BAD at the vet but he did not make a peep I knew it was bad then. The older vet came in and said as soon as they got the last bit out of him he got his spunk back and started growling and barking at them.:lol-sign: I think I am going to sleep for a week. I am seriously starting to see things I think I may have slept 2 hours if even that since Tuesday. Thanks for all of your prayers!!! I really believe in the power of prayer and this is just more proof The prognosis was so bad when I went in but through GOD anything is possible!!! PRAISE JESUS CHRIST!!! Thanks I will keep all of you updated.

Did it pass naturally or did they have to give enemas? It is so scary and it is shocking how fast they get sick.

I haven't been on in a while and missed this, but I got happier and happier as I continued to read your posts. I'm so glad Brody passed all of the bone and is doing better! I'm so, so happy for both you and Brody. I hope he can come home tonight or tomorrow!! Give him lots of hugs when he does! :)

I'm sooooo happy to hear that Brody passed all of the bone! That is GREAT NEWS! :D

Madison passed it naturally, but he had food poisoning from all of the food that was stuck infront of the blockage. They weren't sure if he was going to make it through the night. He actually ended up vomiting the food and the piece of Flossie... our vet saved the bag of food/Flossie to show us just how dangerous it was :yikes:

He was sick and irritated for a few days after we brought him home... all he wanted to do was sleep and didn't want to leave his crate.

It really is scary how quickly they can get sick... he gulped a piece while eating the Flossie (we even picked up the last inch of it, so we didn't think he had gulped any of it). We had no idea it was lodged in his intestines until we were rushing him to the vet.

Yayyy! I'm so glad Brody is going to be ok... you will have to post lots of pictures of the handsome boy, once he comes home. C:

It is really sad that you blame yourself for all of this... DON'T. Accidents happen, even when you take all of the precautions imaginable! I am always extra careful about beef bones, and I take them away when the meat/cartilege is gone, but I will be even more careful after hearing about what happened to Brody.

Well he did not get to come home today.:( He is doing good but they want to be extra cautious. They put him on Carafate and something else to heal and coat his intestines and stomach so that when I get him back Monday he should be ready for real food. He also said he would not want something to happen and us have to run to the E vet. I have had two horrible experiences there so I had to agree on that one. I was upset because I wanted him back today like the other vet said but I see his point. Of course he still does not want to eat but I told the vet that is normal for him he is so picky and I doubt he will eat with me not being there. I know he will eat here so I am not worried about that. Anyway he said he is doing fine so I guess I just have to wait until Monday.

Aw, that stinks you can't have him home with you yet, but maybe it's for the better. By the time you get him home tomorrow, he'll probably be feeling much better. :)

Your vet sounds really nice. I hope if anything happens to Carlie that my vet will be that caring!
