I'm bringing him to the vet first thing in the morning. Here is what's happening. Monday evening he had a normal bowel movement than Monday night I gave him a raw beef split knuckle bone. I was in the room while he was eating it and everything was fine but when I checked on him most of the bone was gone. I don't know if this is normal to eat the actual bone because I usually get him the raw bones with marrow and he just eats the meat on the outside and the marrow on the inside.

This evening Tuesday he went for his poo and he could not go this has been all evening. then around midnight he started vomiting just food nothing dark but is seems like a while after he drinks he vomits it up. He is refusing food and I keep taking him out and he is straining to go and nothing comes out at all. Is there anything I can give him? I hope this is not a blockage from the bone. I need prayers.

It's not good guys I need prayers for him big time. They took xrays and he had a few blockages so they thought they could get it out with enemas over the course of a few days. Well the vet just called to say it was worse than she thought. They gave an enema and they had to go in the break the bone with their hands and it is all clumped together like cement but that part he passed. After that she said a lot of infection came out and she is worried about sepsis.:(
Now there is an even bigger clump of bone in his colon that they are hoping comes down then they have to try to break that up. If it does not they will have to do surgery and they said colon surgery is very dangerous. The vet told me to pray for a miracle. I feel like I am going to just die. I might be the one responsible for killing my dog. So much for raw bones. Please pray for him!

The bone I fed him was a natures variety beef split knuckle bone. Has anyone used this bone? The vet said she has not ever seen anything like this. I am so scared.

Wow, I've never heard of anything like this either... I'm so sorry! I hope that he will be okay.

Has he had this type of bone before? How long does he usually take to eat it?

(((hugs))) did he swallow big chunks of it?
No she said it was all small pieces but they clumped together like cement in his colon because the colon sucks out most of the water before it goes into the large intestine. It is something to think about. I will never give any kind of bone to a dog again. I hope he survives this. Pray that it leaves his colon. The vets think if it gets out of the colon it will pass low enough that they can break it up and give more enemas.

I'm so sorry--sending lots of good vibes your way. My 17lb Manchester had major intestinal surgery last year after being hit by a car while my husband was watching him --they had to cut out a section of intestine and then reconnect everything.
It was major surgery and some of the most agonizing hours I have ever spent hoping that he would make it. I think I understand a bit about how you might be feeling right now. Thankfully my Zippy pulled through just fine and I am sending major good vibes your way that Brody will be fine too. It sounds like she is in good hands and hopefully surgery won't be necessary. Hang in there--I know how hard it is to feel this helpless. And please don't be hard on yourself--how could you possibly know she would do this with a bone? You didn't do anything wrong and you are getting her good care. Please keep us posted and my thoughts are with you.

THat is why i am a bone coward. I dont allow them in the house, if we actually eat something that comes from a bone it goes into a jar in the fridge and stays there until the whole thing goes out in the trash. I am so sorry for you and your puppers ordeal.
