My next dog will likely be another BC. The only dogs I can really see me owning in the near future (lets say atleast the next 10 years) would be BC's, kelpies and maybe a Malinois if I ever decide I'm done with my sanity.

Although I would love a Borzoi, a field Lab and maybe a bullmastiff one day.

At one point or an other, I'm positive I will own a Beauceron, Kelpie, Borzoi, Akbash and a Pyrenean Mastiff. My dream dog has always been a Tosa Inu, but unfortunately they are far from a good match for me. :(

In the past I've had an American Pit Bull Terrier x Labrador, German Shepherds, Whippet and a Rottweiler. I'm pretty sure I'll own a APBTs again... after the BSL is terminated.

My dream dog is an Ibizan and I'm planning to own one in the future... I'm still debating if I'd want a show quality one or not.... looking into showing right now and how to get started handling etc to see if it's something I'd enjoy doing. If so, then I'm probably going to show an Ibizan as well as do lure coursing with that dog.

as far as other breeds I love. Border Collies are definitely on my top list. I also love papillons and I'm sure I'll have one some day. I absolutely love Filas too, but I don't think they're a good match for me. Another one I'd love to have is a doberman and probably a rescue greyhound.

As far as dogs I've had: Cocker Spaniel, Siberian Husky, Alaskan Malamute, 4 black labs, APBT, Some sort of terrier mix, Brittany Spaniel, Australian Shep/heeler mix, Basset Hound and my current dogs are a Border Collie mix and a little Mexican street dog that's a mix of who knows what. On top of that my family has rescued tons more dogs that we've found on the streets and found good homes for them.

More JRTs!!!

I swear they are just soooo me. Portable, fiesty, very very bonded to their human typically, athletic, fun, low maintenance, easily motivated and highly intelligent.

On my someday lists are in current order of interest

Pondengo (a large one)
Koolie (a Trav clone pls)
Berger de Picard
Crestie
pug (when I am retired from dog sports)

I or my family has had/has

JRTs, Shih tzu, flat coat, dalmation, newf cross, weim cross (daddy was a confo ch, mom was a bouve/lab cross) BC, and many mutts.

My next dog will be another BC (out of Steve's aunt Sprint). After that, I'm not sure. Sometimes I really want a well bred pit bull (a Matrix dog maybe). Sometimes I think hard about Malinois. Sometimes I get all gaga about Borderstaffies, or possibly one of the other sport mixes.

I would really like to own a sport-appropriate greyhound someday for rally, obedience, and agility but I don't know that I'll ever have an appropriate household for that. Thin-skinned greyhounds plus hard-mouthed pit bulls seem like a bad combination.

I guess it will depend where I am in my life when the time comes, what direction I'm heading with dog sports, and what will fit into my family.

My top picks:

Boxer
Rhodesian Ridgeback
Greyhound
Springer Spaniel
Jack Russell

I really, really, really want a Neopolitan Mastiff. But I don't think a rescued Neo would ever fit into my life, as most of them have major issues, and I'm not entirely convinced I'll ever have the appropriate lifestyle for a well-bred Neo. It would have to be from working lines, because the show lines are absolutely terrifyingly wrinkley/deformed IMO. I know one who is AWESOME and totally bomb-proof and she pretty much loves everyone as long as you aren't threatening. If you're threatening, watch the eff out. She'l posture and bark and give off a TON of warning signs, but I wouldn't want to be on the wrong end of a fight with her. Oh, and she loves other dogs, too, at least outside the home.

So yeah, she's probably the only Neo I will ever meet who would be completely perfect for me.

American Water Spaniel.
Springer?
Chesapeake?
Greyhound
ACD

The lab is sometimes eliciting thoughts that she is too big for the house, but a Springer probably can't take our water temperatures. The AWS should handle most of the retrieving and water play while being no bigger than Buster. A Springer or Chesapeake would work if I lived some place either warmer, or with bigger cold water. Maybe even a Toller.

The greyhound would be a lot of fun in the open country and if I get my farm, I'll have to have some herding dogs. (But, I am done with those in the suburbs :p)

We've had borzois, DDR and west German GSDs, wirehaired pointing griffon, and a staghound.

We'll definitely have more borzois. Also staghounds, and possibly a Scottish deerhound. Robert still really wants one and I'm finally getting enough contacts in the breed that it might be a possibility.

Robert wants a spinone pretty badly. That will probably be his next dog.

Some day I'd love a cur of some type. No idea what it is exactly, but I've got a huge soft spot for them. I'd have to research the different types/lines more, but after raising Charlie with his ridiculous energy level and prey drive a working bred cur doesn't seem nearly as intimidating.

Scent hounds are another really appealing bunch. I love plotts, running walkers, etc. Again that might be something we'd get if I can get Robert to fall in love with the right dog. ;)

I'd also love a guardian breed. I may possibly start with a kuvasz or a Tibetan mastiff, but eventually would love a central Asian shepherd, or a fila. I used to be on the fence about filas because they sound awesome on paper, but after meeting about a dozen in person from imported Brazilian working lines I LOVE them and really hope there is a place for one in our lives some day.

My next three dogs will be...

A border collie to play agility with.

A sheltie. Just cause I love them and need another (also to play agility with)

And a papillon. Show quality foundation bitch (and to play agility).

Order will just depend on what I find first from breeders or rescues that fit.
I guess I should add:

I'm about 90% sure the next will be a BC.

Papillon, BC, Sheltie are the only ones I really want consistently. There are many other breeds (mostly various herders and sporting breeds) that strike my fancy too but they change with the seasons.

I've had a Lab, a GSD/Golden, BC/Collie type mutt, 3 shelties, and 7 papillons (and a foster terrier mutt). No, I don't branch out much. :lol-sign: I honest to goodness could see me only having those three breeds and being 100% satisfied for the rest of my dog owning life.

Breeds that I would love to own someday:
A well-bred Brittany
Bernese Mountain Dog
Doberman (assuming I'm ever in a situation where DA can be worked around)
Australian Shepherd
Cardigan Welsh Corgi
GSD

Breeds that I probably will end up with:
Lots of sporting dogs :rofl1: maybe with a couple herding and/or working dogs thrown in there somewhere!

Koolies seem to fit me like a glove so I'm pretty sure I'm going to be sticking with them for quite a long time and a female will most definitely be my next dog (little solid red please and thank you)

I also would like a BC at some point and I'm tossing around the idea of Kelpie if I could find one from a breeder I liked. English Shepherds are also on my maybe list and I keep going back and forth about them, I would really like to meet a few.

Sighthounds also appeal to me and I honestly have no clue which direction I'm going to go with them. Somedays I really really want my Saluki then sometimes the idea of a Whippet or a Windhound really appeals. Then I think about a nice lurcher or even a longdog is what I want and so on. So I know I'll end up with one someday, just don't know what kind or when.

There's a lot of breeds that I meet or see online that I totally LOVE and admire. But there's a lot I don't see myself realistically ever having.

I really love big dogs. I grew up with a GSD and a Golden Retriever. My family members all had big dogs. But I've realized I've really become a small dog person and I think the farthest I'll end up branching out of the toy/terrier breeds would be a BC. A GSD could *possibly* be in my future again because I love them so much not am still unsure... pretty certain that would be after Jackson is gone.

Anyways, breeds I can see myself seriously considering and looking at in the next 5-8yrs or so:
Yorkie or Silky Terrier
Papillon
Chihuahua
Border Terrier
Westie

I always feel like I don't wanna get 'stuck' on a breed since I'm so young (20) and have the rest of my life to explore different breeds... but I can't help it! Something keeps bringing me back to Yorkies/Silky's (I know they are different breeds). I just feel comfortable. Though I'd never actively seek a standard Yorkie who is under 7lbs.

This literally changes on a daily basis for me.

The past few days I have been all about Border Collies.

Last night into today this has changed to Labs. I also met two adorable French Bulldogs at work today, so I want one of them too.
This. Border Collie, Australian Shepherd, Chihuahua, Dachshund, Corgi, German Shepherd, shelter mix. I change my mind a lot. I'm 99% sure my next dog will be a shelter mutt though. Big or small, male or female, I'm not picky. :p I do think I want short-med haircoat though. Nothing curly or wiry. Well see though!

Sometimes I think about getting a Norwegian buhund. Maybe one day! I have only met one (I used to groom him) and I LOVED him, he had such a great temeprament. I'd have to meet some more before deciding.

My husband really wants to get something that looks similar to a husky or malamute when we move (but larger than the buhund). I'm really not a Northern breed fan, but if he must, I'd probably like to get a Canadian Eskimo dog. I love the ones I meet at shows; Very primal looking.

And lastly, I would really like to get something for my daughter to compete with. Something smaller and easier than one of my Belgians that she can do junior handling and obedience and agility, rally, etc with. A dog that more "just her's" than one of my Belgians. I'll probably end up getting her something from a breeder; A retired dog that already has some show and obedience training. Maybe a cocker spaniel? I'm not really sure, I haven't thought alot about it yet, she has a few years to go.

I feel the same way about sighthounds! I have always loved them but I don't know which kind I'd get (and I will likely eventually have a sighthound of some sort). I raised a Grey puppy. I didn't really find her hard to train, she was quite fun and she was an all around wonderful dog. Quite a few sighthounds get bigger than what I find to be ideal or tend to be too primitive for me. Likely I'd end up with a Whippet because I like their size, they are awesome lure coursing dogs and seem to be the most willing to do sports. The Cirneco dell'Etna are attractive, a nice size and also supposed to be on the more biddable side for sighthounds but I haven't been around any to say. While I won't be getting a sighthound any time soon, they are definitely on my someday list :)

Otherwise, I have been looking at PyrSheps for several years now. I really like their size, athletic ability and variation in looks. I've actually looked into several oddball herding breeds (such as Mudi, Pumi, Entlebuchers) but keep coming back to PyrSheps.

And it goes without saying that there will be more Belgians :) Breeds I have had or have are Belgians, a Collie, GSDs, Cardigan Corgi, Dobe Mix, Irish Setter. I have lived with and worked with several BCs and I really enjoy them. Raised the Grey puppy and spent a lot of time around that breed too. I've been around PWDs for many years, they are like part of my extended family :)
