Have you ever read house of leaves?
I loved that book, but it's a bit.....strange, so you might not like it.
Or maybe "flowers of aldgernon" (sp?). That is sad, but a really good book too.

Unless your looking for something a little more entertainment I would suggest "Darkfall" by Dean Koontz. It's a sci fi kind of book so you might not like it either, but I thought it was really interesting. One of those things you just can't put down.

I love all the Jean Auel books Starts off with this lil girl who becomes orphaned after an earthquake, then she's mauled by a lion, a cave woman (yeah forgot to mention that it's prehistoric) finds her and talks the clan into keeping her, even though she's not like them. I found the series to be great. I also liked Donna Boyd's The Promise it's about werewolves but not in a scary way.

I think I saw the movie version to that cavegirl book. I can't remember the lady's name, but someone was named derk or dirk or something like that. Anyways it was a good movie so I might get that book. What's it called?

The first book isThe Clan If you liked the movie you'll love the book, b/c I read the book first and then watched the movie, I was very disappointed in it. The book can kinda be a hard read b/c there is sooo much detail in them. If you had to survive in the wild, I think you could using her books. In another sequel she describes how they make a boat and I think you could do it from the description. But really it is an awesome book. I found it at Walmart but then found out my library had quite a few of them. The series is one of my all time favs, it's a great story. Let me know if you get it, I'd love to discuss it with someone, I let my sister borrow my copy, but it'll be awhile before she gets it read (2 boys, ages 4 and 2) :D

I'm going to look at the public library first to see if they have it. If they don't I look at half priced books. Hopefully they'll have it cause their prices are really awesome.
I'll tell you when/if I get it.

Um--some great fiction I can recommend:

The Cabinet of Curiosities by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Chilod

Relic by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child

Omerta by Mario Puzo

Velocity by Dean Koontz

The Long Walk by Stephen King

Cujo by Stephen King

Those are a few I enjoyed. :D

You won't regret it, they're all awesome. I think my fav was Valley of the Horses. Ayla is just a great woman role model, she's a very strong person.

Yeah, she's written five in this series and is only supposed to do one more. I'm eagerly awaiting it, but I'll be sad that the story is over.

Yeah.....The producers of the movies never capture the escence of the book. They always cut the good parts out and it just is never the same.

Exactly Grammy. They left out and changed so much of the book in this case. But there is never a movie as good as the book. I didn't know until I was grown Scarlette from Gone with the Wind had 2 children besides Bonnie!
