Lol I just found out today that this is something I do that is supposedly strange.

before being crated or just before bed if he's sleeping out, Merlin/dogs in our family have ALWAYS gotten special bed time cookies.

They aren't really special other than the fact that they only get them at bedtime and they are usually larger biscuits than we do for regular after-walk treats.

Merlin ALWAYS get a bedtime cookie..

do you guys partake?

My mom gives Georgie a cookie every time she goes in her crate.
Payton doesn't sleep in his crate but he gets a handful of kibble every time he goes in his crate (he needs extra food to put on extra weight but can't have it all for meals.) Sometimes Auggie and Pepper get a few pieces too.

But nobody gets anything special or different at night, just normal "crate cookies," or technically kibbles in Payton's case. I often give everybody a cookie for coming in from going potty one last time, but they sometimes get potty cookies throughout the day too.

Right now everybody is getting their mouths sprayed with Chlorhexidine right before bed but I don't think that counts LOL.

We do bedtime cookies when I remember :p Usually it's after getting their teeth brushed. If I remember to do that. LOL.

We do it! I wasn't for it, but somehow my mother started doing it when Trent was a puppy, and now I feel bad when he doesn't get his cookie

After walk cookies didn't used to happen, either, but a couple years ago when my mother took care of Trent, she also started doing that. When I got home and took him on his walks, I couldn't figure out why he would just stand in front of me expectantly. I resisted at first but again, too much guilt. He makes super sad puppy eyes when he's deprived of his cookies.

My dad has always done this with our dogs. They get a Milkbone every night before bed. And he can't forget, they won't let him.

I loved that even up to the very end Kaylee would get super excited for her milkbone from him. Never failed to make her dance.

It's at the point with the Koolies that when he leaves the room around 'Milkbone Time' they'll get in their sit pretties and wait for him to come back.

I've never done "after walk" cookies but those actually sound practical lol. I mean, I usually enjoy a little snack after my walks! Perhaps we will start a new routine lol.

Zander always gets a kennel cookie. Maybe not always a bedtime cookie, but usually one for going in his kennel.

Or not yelling at me.

Or not being in the kitchen.

Or not being annoying for the last five minutes.

Or being good in the car.

Or generally anything at any point in time. He's pretty spoiled in that regard. And then I wonder why I have the BEGGINEST DOG EVAH.

Zoe will get a little something when I have to put her away (blocked off in the bedroom/living room while I'm gone,) and she insists that 11 years after potty training, she still gets one for going out and going. Also for going on walks and coming back.

When we visit my parents, she always gets a "good-bye goody" from my mom. Zoe is NOT okay leaving until she has had it, and it's nice and big.

The crew will either get a chew or a cookie in the morning after they get fed and I leave for work. Cookies for going back into their crates, and sometimes in the evenings when they stare at the box I'll give them one. Or when Nimbus yells at me they usually get one then as well lol.

I don't do this but it sounds like a sweet idea, I'm sure my dogs would agree.

I do like to leave them with a chew bone sometimes when I'm going off for a while. I don't do it every time - keeps them guessing!

But a special treat at night - I like the sound of that. :)

Josh tried to implement the bedtime cookie when we lived together. He even set an alarm on his phone and everything to make sure they got it. 9:45pm every night.

Then he moved for work and I had to stay here for school....."cookie time" disappeared because I'm sort of a terrible person lol.

Mine do get a bedtime cookie, although it is the same kind they get for coming inside during the day. It started because Gusto never wanted to come to bed as a puppy.

Yeah, everyone gets bedtime cookies, I also give going-to-work-don't-eat-the-cats-watch-the-house-be-good cookies when I leave for work in the morning.
